The capacity improvement can not be relied on

a signal radio technology alone. AIS has

partnered with KT corporation to develop the

radio aggregation technology which makes use

of both WiFi and 4G concurrently to achieve

Giga-bit level of mobile internet access as a

prior effort towards 5G era.

Advanced Radio Technology Development

With the need of Internet access consumption,

AIS has developed the Long-Term-Evolution

(LTE) Massive MIMO 32T32R, 8T8R, 5-beam

Antenna, and LTE Relay with Huawei, ZTE, and

Nokia to serve such a demanding capacity

Queuing System Abhaibhubejhr hospitalThis is the cooperation between AIS and Abhaibhubejhr hospital to solve problems and decrease

the time in waiting queue in the hospital.

With variety of AIS’s business partners, AIS searches for an appropriate partner and pairs with

Abhaibhubejhr hospital. A startup named “QueQ”, a professional in queue management mobile

application, is arranged for developing this smart queue for Abhaibhubejhr hospital.

Hatyai is a main city centered in the southern region of Thailand. Similar to other cities in the

globe, Hatyai also experienced a number of environmental problems such as air quality, particle

pollution, water quality and flooding.Prince of Songkla University (PSU) takes initiative to

address the problems by implementing sensors for various types of environmental measures in

Hatyai city, where the main university campus is located.

A vast range of sensors encompasses water level detection, quantity of dissolved oxygen in

public canal, pm2.5 particle level, ambient temperature, relative humidity level, for example.

The measurement information is reported remotely through AIS NB-IoT network to PSU’s IoT

platform for further data processing.

Medicine Storage with Temperature Sensor

Vaccines and medicines quality is highly

dependent on its temperature.

If the temperature is out of a typical range of

2-8 degree Celsius, the quality would be

degraded and could be harmful when apply-

ing to patients.

It is thus important to maintain vaccines

/medicines storage temperature in an accept-

able range.

Pharmacist must therefore visit the storage

cabinets/rooms on regular basis to watch out

the temperature. It will then become more

effective if the temperature measurement can

be reported remotely to the pharmacist.

At Suranaree University of Technology

(SUT) hospital, a simple, but innovative

solution has been implemented to support the

above scenario.Temperature sensor attached

to the vaccines/medicines storage cabinets

and storage rooms is collected and reported

via AIS NB-IoT network to a cloud server.

Instantaneous temperature as well as statisti-

cal data can be displayed on a dashboard as

well as on mobile device.

Since the NB-IoT Shield launched, there have been a number of adopters

on the technology. Makers, universities, andenterprises have largely

used AIS NB-IoT Shield to be a part of their IoT prototypes or products.

Integrated Pipeline Maintenance

& Monitoring System from PTT

Integrated with Smart Trash Bin from KKU

The need of internet access does not stop at person-to-app interaction but it is an initial phase of

Internet-of-Thing (IoT) era. AIS has developed the latest technology so called Narrow Band IoT

(NB-IoT) to serve the need of specific types of things such as sensors and actuators. In order to

access such technology, AIS needs to build a terminal point to provide access for. The NB-IoT

Shield has been developed specifically for such purpose.

Gas pipelines are fundamental network infrastructure of PTT. It is therefore very crucial to main-

tain all pipelines in the network to always be in good conditions. The team invented pipelines

monitoring sensors that can transmit data over AIS NB-IoT network.

It does not require PTT to implement its own private network to connect to the sensors. PTT can

rather use AIS NB-IoT network having nation-wide coverage. Also, the sensors are not required

to interact with the NB-IoT network frequently, thus extending battery life time at each sensor

station and consequently reduce PTT maintenance cost significantly. Sensor installation can

also be done very quickly since there is no wiring required – everything is wireless.

INTEGRATED PIPELINE MAINTENANCE MONITORING SYSTEM

A fast growing demand for personal vehicle in Thailand induces multiple problems such as scarce

parking spaces and traffic congestion as people have to drive around certain areas to find the

available space. With the advent of NB-IoT technology, AIS is partnering with Infinite Technology

to develop the Smart Parking Solution to alleviate or even resolve the problems.

AIS has announced the “No Meeting Half Day”

policy for every Thursday afternoon since 1st

August 2017 to free up time for all staff and

encourage them to use this opportunity on

new ability developing. This policy also drives

the innovation environment, staff can add this

half-day a week on their innovation project.
