    1. Conference Information

    1.1. What is the NASCC?

    The North American Steel Construction Conference is a premier education event aimed at providing structural engineers, steelfabricators, erectors, and detailers with practical information and the latest design and construction techniques. In addition, the SteelConference offers an extensive trade show, featuring products and services ranging from fabrication machinery, galvanizing, and

    connection products to detailing and engineering software. Its a once-a-year opportunity to learn the latest techniques, see the mostinnovative products, and network with your peers and clients.

    1.2. What is the Stability Conference?

    The Structural Stability Research Councils Annual Stability Conference has been held in conjunction with the NASCC since 2001.Presentation topics range from Performance of Steel Angle Connections Under Design Fire Scenarios to Buckling Behavior ofSteel Truss with Torsional Bracing. The Stability Conference covers stability issues for construction, fire, seismic, bridges, andcold-formed design. In addition, the conference includes the 2011 Beedle Award Paper presentation by Nicholas Trahair. Attendanceat all of the Stability Conference sessions in included with your registration; however, SSRC proceedings are included only ineducator registrations (all others may pre-order them separately).

    1.3. Who attends the NASCC?

    More than 3,300 structural engineers, steel fabricators, erectors, detailers, educators, state bridge engineers, highway officials andothers involved in the design and construction of fabricated steel attend the conference each year. In addition to conferenceseminars, attendees have many networking opportunities, including the annual Fabricator Workshops, where fabricators canexchange ideas in a non-competitive environment.

    1.4. What will I find in the Exhibit Hall?

    This year s exhibit hall features more than 400 booths with more than 200 exhibitors demonstrating their latest products. Youll findfabrication equipment, bridge products, detailing software, connection products, safety equipment, engineering software, andcoatings. Equipment manufacturers typically provide full demonstrations of their equipment; steel beams are cut, punched, anddrilled right on the exhibit hall floor! The exhibit hall is open April 18-20.

    1.5. Is the show open to the public?

    Although the show is tailored for structural engineers, steel fabricators, erectors, detailers, architects and educators; anyone iswelcome to attend the show. All attendees must be registered in order to enter any of the sessions or gain access to the exhibit floor.

    1.6. Are children allowed on the NASCC Show Floor?

    Children 12 and under are not permitted on the Exhibit Hall Floor for safety reasons; however, they are welcome to purchase a ticketand attend the Conference Dinner.

    1.7. Will the papers be available on-line?

    Very few NASCC presenters provide formal papers, but when a paper is submitted, it is made available to all attendees online bothprior to the conference and for three months after the conference. In addition, most of the sessions are audiotaped and the digitalrecording is synchronized with the speakers PowerPoint presentation. These presentations also will be available after theconference.

    1.8. Will I get a Conference Proceedings?

    NASCC: The Steel Conference does not offer a conventional proceedings. Instead, prior to the conference we post a few papersprovided by a small number of speakers to www.aisc.org . Approximately 45 days after the conference we then post slide shows(complete with audio presentations) of most of the presentations to www.aisc.org . Additionally, proceedings for the SSRC AnnualStability Conference are available for $25. However, these must be pre-ordered as part of your registration to the conference.

    1.9. What is the breakdown of attendees to The NASCC show each year?

    Approximately 1/3 of the attendees are fabricators, 1/3 are engineers, and the remaining 1/3 is a combination of Detailers, Erectors,Educators and others involved in the design and construction of fabricated steel attend the conference each year.

    1.10. What sessions are translated?

    1.11. How many PDHs can I earn?

    Attendees can earn up to 24 professional development hours (PDHs), which is equivalent to 2.4 CEUs. (Note: ProfessionalEngineers requiring continuing education credit in Florida must provide their Florida P.E. license number on the registration form.)

    1.12. Do PDHs received at NASCC qualify for New York state continuing education requirements?

    AISC is approved by New York State as a provider of continuing education programs. New York does not pre-approve individual

    courses. While AISC considers its courses to contribute to the enhancement of the professional practice of engineers, individualsmust determine for themselves whether or not they consider a course to satisfy the requirements of the New York State Board forProfessional Engineering and Land Surveying.

    1.13. Are any sessions eligible for GBCI CE Hours (Green Build Council Continuing Education Hours)?

    Yes! AISC is working on all sessions as part of the Sustainable Steel Conference to be approved for GBCI CE Hours. LEEDProfessionals must self report credential maintenance activities to GBCI through the "My Credentials" section of www.gbci.org . AISCwill retain documentation for seven years. AISC will provide a Certificate of Completion to attendees who register for continuing

    education credit for these sessions.

    1.14. What is the World Steel Bridge Symposium?

    The World Steel Bridge Symposium (WSBS) brings together bridge design engineers, construction professionals, academicians,transportation officials, fabricators, erectors, and constructors to discuss and learn state-of-the-art practices for enhancing steelbridge design, fabrication, and construction techniques. Attendance at all of the WSBS sessions is included with your NASCC: TheSteel Conference registration.
