For my professional reviews, I selected Beth Marcotte and Katherine (Kat) Murphy to

write my letter of promise to the field. Beth currently has served as my direct supervisor in

Residence Life this year and has seen my growth throughout my time as an Assistant Resident

Director (ARD). Kat and I first worked together as ARDs and have continued our personal and

professional relationship through many classes in the program and our time in Rome. I chose

both of these professionals because they have seen my growth throughout the past two years and

have been instrumental in shaping my experience in this program. Both of the letters spoke of

my commitment to building relationships with students and finding ways to challenge my own

personal and professional growth.

It was touching to see that both of the letters mentioned my commitment to students,

especially in the residential experience. Kat spoke of my drive to help make the student

experience better by applying classroom concepts to my position and relationships with students.

Additionally, Beth mentioned my growth throughout the past two years of developing a balance

between my role as a peer and supervisor with my students. I have always known that I am in

this field to help shape the student experience, and I am honored that others have seen this

commitment. The two letters also recognized my commitment to developing myself as a

professional in this field. Specifically, Beth spoke of my divisional commitments throughout the

past year in order to build professional relationships across the Division of Student Development.

Kat also spoke of my desire to increase my efficacy and skills when facilitating student conduct.

This has continued to be a growing area of interest for me and her kind words only seek to

increase my drive to develop as a professional. Both of these letters were incredibly validating

and will provide me the motivation to continue to the end of the semester.
