Liebe internationale Studierende, herzlich willkommen in Passau! Internationalität gehört seit ihrer Gründung zum Selbstverständnis unserer Universität. Wir sind stolz darauf, dass Jahr für Jahr weit mehr als 1.000 Gäste aus über 100 Län-dern auf unserem Campus lernen und forschen. Wir freuen uns, dass Sie im Akademischen Jahr 2019/20 nach Passau gekommen sind. Das Akademische Auslandsamt führt seit über 30 Jahren jeweils drei Wochen vor Beginn der Vorlesungszeit Orientierungswochen durch. Die in diesem Rahmen angebotenen Veranstaltungen sollen Ihnen den Einstieg in Ihr Studium erleichtern und Ihnen – vielleicht sogar noch wichtiger! – Gelegenheit geben, sich in der Drei-Flüsse-Stadt einzuleben und erste soziale Kontakte zu knüpfen. Wir freuen uns auf diese spannende Zeit mit Ihnen. Das Programm umfasst neben Deutschkursen viele interessante Akti-vitäten auf und um den Campus herum. Dear international students, A very warm welcome to Passau! Engaging with the international academic community has from the outset been an important part of our mission. We are proud to have well over 1,000 students from more than 100 countries on campus each year, and are thrilled that you decided to join us for the new academic year. The International Office has organised orientation weeks for interna-tional students for more than three decades. They take place three weeks prior to the start of classes and not only help you prepare for your studies but also – and perhaps even more importantly! – provide great opportunities to get to know Passau and interact with your fellow students. We much look forward to this exciting time. Our programme offers German language classes as well as a variety of extracurricular events and networking activities. Organised excur-sions around town and across Germany offer you a chance to expe-rience wonderful destinations both in Passau and elsewhere in the country. Come along! Tutorenbüro
Für die Orientierungswochen wird jedes Jahr ein Tuto-renbüro eingerichtet. Die Tutoren helfen Ihnen gerne, z. B. beim Ausfüllen von Formularen, die Sie für das Bür-gerbüro oder zur Beantragung einer Aufenthaltsge-nehmigung benötigen. Auch die Anmeldelisten für vie-le Veranstaltungen befinden sich im Tutorenbüro. Die Tutorinnen und Tutoren helfen Ihnen zudem bei Fragen zum Studium und zur Erstellung Ihres Stundenplans.

The student helpers will assist you with filling in the docu-ments you have to submit at the Bürgerbüro or the Auslän-deramt for your registration or residence permit application in Passau. You can also register for our various Orientation Week activities in this office. Finally, the student helpers will assist you with questions concerning your studies or your timetable.

Am Mittwoch, den 25. September 2019, findet ein Deutsch-Einstufungstest statt, der für alle Studierenden ver-pflichtend ist. Sie werden dadurch in Ihr Deutsch-Niveau eingestuft. Zusätzliche Informationen zur Vorgehensweise erhalten Sie per E-Mail. Die Einteilung in die Kurse und der Unterrichtsort werden am nächsten Tag durch einen Aus-hang an der Tür des Tutorenbüros (JUR 059) bekannt gege-ben.

There will be a German language placement test – which is compulsory for everyone – on Wednesday, 25 Septem-ber 2019. You will receive further information on the proce-dure by e-mail. Your course allocation and the teaching ven-ue will be posted on the door of the student helpers’ office (JUR 059) the following day.

ImmatrikulationWährend der Orientierungswochen werden insgesamt vier Im-matrikulationsveranstaltungen (Termine siehe Laufzettel und Veranstaltungskalender) angeboten. Der Besuch einer die-ser Veranstaltungen ist für Austauschstudierende ver-pflichtend, da Sie dort Ihre Unterlagen für das Studi-um in Passau erhalten.
CampusCard
Die CampusCard ist die multifunktionale Chipkarte der Universi-tät Passau. Sie dient als Studierendenausweis, als Bibliotheksaus-weis, zur Bezahlung an Kopier- und Scangeräten, zur Bezahlung in der Mensa und in den Cafeterien, sowie als Zugangskarte für das Sportzentrum und die elektronischen Schließfächer.Außerdem können Sie Ihre CampusCard als Busticket für den Passauer Stadtverkehr validieren. Bitte beachten Sie, dass die Nutzung der CampusCard für den Busverkehr frühestens ab dem 01.10.19 für Sie möglich ist!
• Sie müssen Ihre CampusCard zunächst validieren, bevor Sie sie im Busverkehr nutzen können.• Solange Ihre CampusCard nicht gültig ist oder nicht va- lidiert wurde, müssen Sie zur Nutzung des Busverkehrs normale Tickets kaufen. • Achten Sie bitte auf die Logos des städtischen Verkehrsunter- nehmens. Nur wenn Sie die Schriftzüge „SWP“ und „VBP“ nach dem Validieren auf Ihrer Kar- te finden, ist diese für den Busver- kehr gültig.

EnrolmentWe will arrange four dates for enrolment during the Ori-entation Weeks (please see checklist and the calendar of events). Exchange students must attend one of these events in order to receive the necessary doc-uments for studying at the University of Passau.
Your CampusCard
The CampusCard is a smart card that combines various functions: it is at the same time your student ID, bus pass, library card, printer-copier card as well as an access card for the electronic lockers and the Sports Centre turnstiles, and perhaps most importantly of all, the card you will use to pay for your meals at the refectory and the cafeterias on campus. Please don’t forget to validate your card us-ing one of the validation terminals on campus to make it a valid bus pass and student ID. Please note that you can-not use the card as a bus pass before 1 October 2019.
• Prior to 1 October you will have to buy an ordinary ticket if you want to use the buses.• When you have enrolled, our student helpers will as- sist you with applying for the CampusCard. Please bring a digital/scanned copy of a (passport-sized) photograph.• Make sure that you can access the photo file when you’re in a computer room (e.g. bring it along on a USB stick or similar).

Bitte bringen Sie hierfür ein Passfoto in digitaler Form mit.Stellen Sie bitte sicher, dass Sie Zugriff auf das Bild haben (bspw. auf einem USB-Stick).
Nachdem Sie die CampusCard beantragt haben, wird die-se zeitnah für Sie ausgedruckt. Bitte achten Sie darauf, Ihre Karte noch im Validierungsterminal zu validieren (wichtig!). Bitte beachten Sie, dass Sie ihre Karte nur während des auf-gedruckten Gültigkeitszeitraums nutzen können.
Einführung in Stud.IP
Stud.IP ist eine Online-Plattform, über die Sie sich für Kurse anmelden, Vorlesungsinhalte herunterladen und sich Ihren persönlichen Stundenplan erstellen können. Um Ihnen den Umgang mit dem System zu erleichtern, bieten wir Ihnen Einführungsveranstaltungen an.
Es wird dringend empfohlen, eine dieser Veranstal-tungen zu besuchen (Anmeldung im Tutorenbüro)!

Please note that the CampusCard can only be used as a bus pass if both the ‘SWP’ as well as the ‘VBP’ logo have been printed on the card during vali-dation. It is valid for all buses operated by Stadtwerke Passau (check for the SWP and VBP logos), but not the RBO/VLP buses.
Your CampusCard is printed soon after you have applied for it. You should then validate it – the card can only be used during the valid-until period that is printed on the card!
Introduction to Stud.IP (virtual learning environment)
Stud.IP is a web-based system within the University to sup-port lectures and related administrative processes. Using this system, you can register for classes online, download lecture notes and create your personal virtual timetable. In order to facilitate your usage of this system, we strongly recommend that you take part in one of the introduction sessions. You can register for the intro-duction sessions at the student helpers’ office.

EU-Bürger Studierende aus EU-Ländern müssen sich nach ihrer Ankunft in Passau beim Bürgerbüro oder beim Ausländeramt der Stadt Passau anmelden. Informati- onen hierzu erhalten Sie im Tutoren- büro.
Nicht-EU-Bürger Studierende aus Nicht-EU-Ländern be- nötigen eine Aufenthaltsbewilligung in Form eines elektronischen Aufent- haltstitels. Sie sollten so bald wie mög- lich, auf alle Fälle aber spätestens acht Wochen vor Ablauf Ihres Visums, beim Ausländeramt vorsprechen. Die not- wendigen Formulare erhalten Sie im Tutorenbüro.

AEGEE - Association des Etats Généraux des Etudiants de l’Eu-rope - arbeitet ins-besondere während der Orientierungs-wochen eng mit dem Akademischen Auslandsamt zusam-men. So finden z. B. ein Pub-Crawl, Uni- und Stadtführungen statt. Weitere Informationen dazu finden Sie im Veranstaltungs-kalender.
Außerdem veranstaltet AEGEE ein Intercambio-Programm (Konversation mit Passauer Studierenden zur Verbesserung der Deutschkenntnisse). Bitte melden Sie sich hierfür unter folgender E-Mail Adresse an: [email protected].

AEGEE (Association des Etats Généraux des Etudiants de l’Eu-rope) cooperates closely with the International Office, especially during the Orientation Weeks. There will, for example, be a pub crawl through Passau and guided city and campus tours and much more (for further events see calendar of events).
AEGEE also arranges an international intercambio pro-gramme (conversations with students from Passau to improve one’s knowledge of German). Please send an e-mail to [email protected] to register for this programme.
During the academic semester, AEGEE holds a weekly meeting every Thursday in room 205/206 NK at 8 p.m.. AEGEE also or-ganises other events for international students, such as the wel-come breakfast, an excursion to Munich and Budapest, parties and much more.
