Introduction
As always Masato Wada opens the show with his own semi-roll-call-esque thing, this
time its about living all alone in the sea and deciding to go on a journey (?). This as itturns out is from Denjiman and was suggested as a roll-call by listener: Tento-ninniku-
tenno. I havent seen Denjiman so this reference went straight over my head. Wada states
that they want to get straight into the Guest Talk section, so the Intro will be a littleshorter this week.
A listener by the name of Worlds Unofficial asks whether Wada preferred (?) Sayaka or
Malshina, to which Wada answered Malshina. Kazaki Fusion asks what Masato Wada
does on his days off. It turns out he drinks lots the night before his day off and then sleeps
throughout the next day.
Guest Talk
As previously mentioned the guests are Tomokazu Seki (Fun Fact: Seki also dubbed the
Japanese voice of alleged racial sterotype Skids in the Transformers films) and Kanae
Oki, who are back for even more Sentai talk. Wada mentions that last episode had threeadults and had a much different feeling to Episodes 1 and 2, with the conversation being
deeper, and he hopes to replicate this feeling this week.
Wada starts off by asking the two experts what they thought of his dubbing in the role of
Akiba Red, as it was his first time doing ADR, he was quite nervous. Both guests saythat he was fine and retained the tension of speech pre and post transformation. Wada
admits that as he went on he learned the fun of doing ADR and how he could play with
his voice, which Oki suggests is partly responsible for the character of Nobuo and how in
real life such intensity would be unknown. Seki talks about how the difference betweendubbin Toku and Anime is that in Anime the image has already been decided and the
voice only needs to fit this, however in Toku it is a collaboration between the actor and
the suit actor, and how they both have to learn and adapt from each other. Wada recountshow suit actor, Sanshiro Wada, observed Wadas habits and incorporated them into his
performance.
Oki says that he once made a real unofficial Sentai, by which he means a fan-film
parody, in which he played the role of the Green Ranger. When doing this he studied thehabits of the suit actor to try and copy his habits and such, so it was the opposite of the
Akibaranger situation. Wada talks about how there are loads of Sentai parodies and fan-
films floating around, and how they all play on different concepts of Sentai, which couldbe used in a potential Season 2. He originally imagined Akibaranger as a drama which
played on the usual Sentai character types, such as a girly Pink, a protective Red and a
tomboyish Yellow, but as we know the truth was not so.
Wada asks Seki and Oki what type of roles they would like to play if they could chooseany role. Oki reaffirms that she would want to play a character like Bibidebi who would
be scary and could make monsters grow, or she would like to be the voice of one of the
helper robots. Wada asks if she wanted to transform at all, and Oki replies that shes not
fond of the idea of wearing the suits, but might want to play a commander/mentor typerole. Or she would like to be AkibaPurple, whos allegiances would be ambiguous, they
wont know if shes an ally or an enemy. Wada expresses his desire for there to be lots of

Akibarangers, with them all (except for him) being female.
Sekis dream role is that of the neighbourhood policeman or Ramen shop owner who
always gets inexplicably wound up in the events of the episode. Wada suggests that hecould be the character who would always help/ listen to the heroes, and when they are in
super trouble he could come to the rescue as AkibaBlack!
This leads to a section where Seki asks whether there will be an Akibaranger 2, to which
Wada acts all vague and unsure. Oki claims that it would be a waste to not do a secondseason, and that since Akibaranger ended her Monday evenings have been lacking. Seki
says the only solution is to buy the toys and delusion up more Akibaranger. Wada says
that they could do a second season or a Hikonin Series with lots of different
incarnations, to which Seki says that he would become a Legend Hikonin on par withthe Gorengers. No concrete information as of yet, but Wada thanks the listeners for their
support.
The conversation moves on to Tomokazu Sekis memories of doing voice acting for many
Sentai shows. In particular he recalls a time when Ohranger was on where it was
immediately followed by a Gundam show, this meant that the same was the villain in oneshow and the was the hero straight afterwards. That was a great year for Seki. He also
recounts how back in the day, they didnt have the fancy studios for voice acting and itwas literally done in a shed which didnt even have a floor. Apparently they couldnt use
air conditioners so on hot days they brought in blocks of ice and random cats kept
wondering in to this shed. Despite being a recording studio, the walls werent soundproofso there were lots of takes needed as there was car/helicopter noise in the background of
many of them. The three actors then reminisce about their various experiences in
recording studios, apparently at one point there was a Convenience Store inside the studio
itself. Wada comments that they could make a film out of just Toeis history.
Wada then confronts Oki about herpenchantfor singing Toku songs (a fact that the
others say he must of got from Wikipedia), she sings a lot in her spare time and she likesthe Dekaranger and Timeranger themes, as well as the songs sung by the female team
members. Oki doesnt want to sing the Akibaranger themes because the lyrics are tooquick and difficult to learn, but after some cajoling from the others she promises to try.
Wada is also a fan of the Toku karaoke, but only the song sung by men (otherwise it
would feel weird apparently), citing the theme to Maskman and Boukenger as two of hisfavourites. He also listened to a Tokusatsu Best of Album which he listened to lots on
set. They comment on how Sentai songs are all upbeat and catchy and Seki posits the
theory that its so that they can be used to motivate the heroes when theyre in trouble.
Request Song
Hamanako-no-kushi requests Courage is a Phoenix from Mahou Sentai Magiranger, and it is therefore played. Listen to it, its fun.

Theres also very Akiba-esque Akibaranger T-Shirts plastered with a number of slogans
from the show, available from the Bandai Fashion store. Akibaranger episodes 4-6 are
featured on the Akibaranger Volume 2 DVD/Blu-Ray with lots of Special features andstickers included with the Blu-Ray release.
Malshinas Advice Corner
Laiyamachokan is a 19 year old male whos never been held by/held a girl in his life. (I
think this may be a euphemism, it probably is but Im not entirely sure). Malshina saysthat theres not much she can do for people his age, but she does have one piece of
advice, to not be too overt about his intentions. Instead throw himself into Sports, Studies
and Work, make lots of friends and eventually your time will come. Remember you can
send all of your problems via the Akibaranger Radio Page.
Letters Section
As always this is the section where a selection of the letters and e-mails that are sent to
the show get read out, like in proper radio!
Try your best, AkibaRed! says that he really enjoyed the show, and that even if youwerent a massive Sentai otaku there was lots that could be taken from the show. Herecorded it and watched it during the day and for some reason his 2 year old daughter
also really enjoyed it, and they watched it together. He wants a Moe Moe Z-Cune but is
concerned about the price.
Seki has preordered the Moe Moe Z-Cune, commenting that its so expensively cheap.Wad managed to get his hands on one during an event, and that its possibly the best
quality Toku toy ever made. Wada informs them of the price of the fully transformable
Machine Itasshar and they both act appropriately shocked. As always Wada thanks them, but expresses concern about the 2 year olds safety.
I love Currys favourite monster was Kabukicho (the one Yellow was all hot andbothered over), and wonders if there was any actions scenes that Wada wanted to do.
He answers in the negative but does say that it wouldve been great if there had been a
Power Rangers version of Akibaranger (OMG a Power Rangers reference!), so that hecould dub over the voice of foreigners playing the role of Nobuo. Seki suggests that he
has yet to do a battle damaged helmet scene, but then adds that it would be funny if
another part of the suit got damaged rather than the helmet, angering Nobuo in theprocess.
Somebody (these nicknames are all really long) then asks a question about cosplaying
and specifically men cosplaying as young girls, which leaves all members of the cast
befuddled as to why this happens. Seki suggests that its a form of regression, doingsomething that they could not do in the past, like with weird mens fascination with high
school girl uniforms, he uses remaking old Toku with modern special effects as a way to
explain this. Wada says its like Lucas remaking the old Star Wars films, which everyone
agrees is a terrible decision. They ask Oki if she ever wanted to cosplay, and althoughshe says its not really her thing she might want to do some Kakuranger cosplay. Seki
then states that as there are female members of Sentai teams, although this doesnt
happen because its a kids show, if they were to be captured the villains would probablyinterfere with them in some way as the villains are all really evil and the girls are quite

attractive. Can I just take this moment to say that these are Sekis views and not those of
mine or RRR. Oki complains that shes never thought of this, and Wada says how the
tone of the show suddenly dropped and that it has suddenly gone all grimdark.
Endings
They then proceed to play the ending theme to Akibaranger, sung by Masato Wadahimself. The perfect song to sing when drunk, crying and remembering Akibaranger.
Thats it for this episode of Akibaranger Web Radio (Temp), the hosts part ways and Seki
and Oki say that they are proud to have been able to meet a proper Red and asks Wadato contact them if they ever need anything. With that they all say goodbye, until next
week. See you then!
