July 12 - Ketchikan, Alaska Known as the “Gateway to Alaska,” Ketchikan follows along the steep slopingshores of Tongass Narrows. Explore Creek Street, a historic boardwalk builton pilings over the water, and immerse yourself in history and the Indianculture at the Tongass Historical Museum, Totem Bight State Park andSaxman Village. Consider an optional flightseeing trip to breathtaking MistyFjords National Monument.

July 13 - Juneau, AlaskaJuneau, the capital of Alaska, was founded during a gold rush in 1880.Today, the former gold-mining town counts among its riches some ofAlaska's most spectacular scenery. Nestled at the foot of Mt. Juneau inthe Alaska Panhandle, the city faces the water from the mainland sideof Gastineau Channel. Several magnificent fjords are located along thechannel coast, and the majestic Mendenhall Glacier is nearby.

July 14 - Skagway, AlaskaDuring the 1898 Gold Rush to the Yukon, thousands of gold seekersdisembarked ships at the new boomtown of Skagway to begin the 600-mile trek to the goldfields. Many Skagway businesses erected elaborate2-story false fronts on their buildings, hoping the impression of beingmore stable and prosperous would entice more customers. You can seemany of these restored buildings in Skagway’s Historic District.

July 15 - Glacier Bay (Cruising)A cruise to Glacier Bay will show you a UNESCO World HeritageSite that protects a unique ecosystem of plants and animals livingin concert with an ever-changing glacial landscape. When amonumental chunk of ice splits off a glacier and thunders into thesea the impact shoots water hundreds of feet into the air. You holdyour breath as you catch the moment on film. Then you wait for itall to happen again. And it does: Glacier Bay has more activelycalving tidewater glaciers than anyplace else in the world.

July 16 - At Sea

July 17 - Seward (Anchorage), Alaska, USAThe mountains are so close to the city limits you'd think they weretrying to nudge Seward into Resurrection Bay. Located along thesouthern coast of the Kenai Peninsula, the city is vital fishing port, amajor stop for railway passengers heading north, and the gatewayto Kenai Fjords National Park and its steep-sided, glacier-carvedvalleys and flourishing wildlife. The park is also home to theHarding Ice Field, the largest entirely within U.S. borders. Watch forbald eagles, listen to the sounds of thousands of seabirds andshare the waters with Stellar sea lions, harbor seals, Dall'sporpoises, sea otters and whales.
