THINK SMART; THINK SAFE As we take a look back and reflect on this year's events, experiences and lessons, they would not have been made possible without Alborak's staff both horse and human. The Spring 2018 session is coming to an end and so we begin preparing for Alborak Summer Camps. The 10 week packages will start back up in the Fall with some great “add-ons”. Please enjoy this issue of the Riding School Updates and we look forward to bringing you more information with Issue #9 coming in September to an inbox near you. Pony Club Style With a successful 1 st year as an accredited Pony Club Riding Centre, we were able to offer safe, fun and educational “extra's” that will education all horse enthusiasts. READ ALL ABOUT IT! Special Guests will be hosting themed events, workshops etc for everyone interested! So exciting!!! For the Riding School, we are proud to announce that the following skills will be taught and practiced using Pony Club standards: Tacking/Bridling Grooming Mounting/Dismounting Safety Tack Check Quick Release knot (for applicable horses) Care of Tack Leading Understanding your equipment Summer Lesson Options If anyone is looking to continue with lessons throughout the summer, we will be offering some classes. These classes are suitable for those riders that are able to safely and independently prepare their horse for the lesson as there will be limited staff in the barn available to assist. The summer lesson option is not part of a package, therefore fees and commitment level are different. Here is the information: Term: June 25 until August 29, 2018 Instructor: BJ Fees: $75 + GST (includes school horse rental) Number of students per class: group (max 4) Lesson options: Wednesday @ 5:30; Wednesday @ 6:30; Monday 6pm This is a first come first serve basis. If you are interested in any of the lesson options, please email Justine at [email protected] with your preferred choice and specific dates as you are not obliged to commit to the full term. Summer Break to Re-evaluate Improving our teaching approach is a win win situation for all. Following many discussion among the instructors, we have been evolving some of the Riding School processes and means of communication. With priority being safety, fun and the well being of the horses, we will be looking at adding on a couple of great guidelines to complement the Alborak model starting 2018 Fall session: Beginner lessons length extended Pony Club discount on lessons to members *New* Are you ready to jump checklist Incorporating lunging lessons to the program Competitive Program Reboot Thank-You Chauffeurs! The drive out to the barn can be at times long, slow or peaceful depending on what the rest of your day looks like. We can all agree however that once we have arrived, it was worth it! On behave of the staff and riders, a warm, heartfelt THANK-YOU goes out to all of you who have and continue to make the trek out for the horse lovers in your life. If it wasn't for your careful planning, hard work and patience, the riders to be would still be trotting around their living room with their broom 'horse' jumping oxers over the coffee table!
