Company Background…In the early 1980’s, master locksmith Brian Preddey recognised the need for a lock system which provided resistance to picking, impressioning and key duplication. As a result, Brian developed a “U” shaped key operating on up to twelve tumbler pins, which in turn activate two sidebars. Brian continues to play an integral role in Australian Lock Company’s product design and development, with New Generation BiLock the latest addition to his stable of product initiatives.

The Australian owned and operated Safecorp Group acquired Australian Lock Company in 1989. The Group continues to invest heavily in more sophisticated plant and equipment to augment production and design efficiencies of the world standard BiLock product range.

A History of Innovation…Australian Lock Company has recorded an enviable annual average growth rate during the past two decades. Our Quality Assurance…Australian Lock Company is quality endorsed to ISO9001 standard. Precision engineering facilities, the employment of Q.A. dedicated personnel and master crafts-persons combine with rigid quality control checks and 100,000 cycles pre-release testing to ensure that each of the 300+ product range meets our high standards of performance and reliability.

Government Endorsed Security…Through a close association with “Security Construction and Equipment Committee [SCEC]” ... the Australian Government’s official protective security adviser, both Standard and Quick Change Core [QCC] BiLock has been endorsed into the highest recordable SCEC categories for key operated locks. Standard BiLock is in fact rated to the highest possible level, known as “Secure Area” status, while QCC is rated as “intruder resistant” status but for many installations can be upgraded to “Secure Area” status with approval from SCEC.

In addition, the BiLock First Generation camlocks cylinders (models FA32279 and FA32279Q) were tested by the Underwriters Laboratory Inc. (UL) in the USA and we are pleased to advise:

‘…The camlock cylinders … are in compliance with the attack test requirements of UL437 for the cabinet locking cylinder category (2 minute attack test).’ Lanny Gray, Staff Engineer, Conformity Assessment Service, Underwriters Laboratory Inc.

We are proud to produce what is, to our knowledge, the only Australian designed and manufactured lock cylinders to achieve these levels of endorsement.

The Manufacturing Facility … The product is manufactured at the Unanderra plant which now boasts around 3,500 square metres in floor space, more than 70 staff and is one of Australia’s largest users of multi axis CNCs , (specialist lock component machinery). All technology is supported by dedicated quality trained personnel.

Our large and modern factory is technologically sophisticated with significant automation of procedures and use of specifically designed/built machines to support the precise, CNC based production. The latter has enabled improved productivity and accuracy in product components, providing cost benefits to our end-users. By striving to contain production costs, the Company has been able to contain price rises, with only two modest price rises in more than half a decade.

Australian Lock Company produces and markets in excess of 500,000 lock cylinder components annually on some of Australia’s most sophisticated and precise equipment. Capacity has increased dramatically (in line with market trends) with the addition of new equipment in the more recent past.

DistributionThe Unanderra plant is also the distribution point for New Generation BiLock products to more than 145 authorised agents throughout Australia and overseas. The packing and dispatch is computerised for maximum efficiency and throughput, enabling the company to dispatch most products within a 72-hour time frame and monitor that movement for our customers.

Master Keying … how it worksOur completely interchangeable core lock system (QCC) enables a lock combination to be changed in seconds, provides second-to-none key controls, offers fast and efficient maintenance and large virtually unlimited master keying system capabilities!

So-called ‘Master Key’ systems have almost become a generic term. Real Master Key Systems that can incorporate switch locks, perimeter locks, filing cabinet locks, garage door locks and virtually any lock on the market today are a much rarer animal. BiLock is a very rare beast! Because it offers virtuallyinfinite combinations with tightly controlled security, it gives both the locksmith and the end user confidence and flexibility. It’s the Company’s understanding of what a true Master Key System requires that has positioned BiLock at the forefront in today’s security market.

The BiLock key system utilises up to 12 chambers with 4 depths per chamber. The numerical sum of these combinations gives 16,777,216 actual key combinations per profile. Powerful Master Key Systems can be generated from these combinations. It also makes possible an authentic and convenient ‘one key system’ for each individual user authorised to access any particular area, building or group of buildings.

The futuristic New Generation BiLock key head has been specifically designed to incorporate extensive colour coded master keying capabilities to ensure optimal security.

One, two or three different colours can be mixed and matched from the 20 colours available in any key head, with a maximum of 8,000 colour combinations possible. This additional, flexible feature in the New Generation BiLock key head enables instant identification of keys by system managers and building supervisors and visibly defines, with ease, levels within a master key system.

Australian Lock Company also offers the option of specially designed colour key heads complete with company logo at a premium price.

Correct key identification is important and convenient. With the range of key head colours an integral component, New Generation BiLock is ideal for use in any Master Key System.

Braille differentiation within the New Generation BiLock key head allows the visually impaired to also differentiate keys within a Master Key system. FinishesReadily available standard finishes are satin chrome plate, chrome plate, florentine bronze plate, polished brass and black chrome. Other finishes are naturally available on request. Please note ‘soft’ finishes such as polished brass and florentine bronze will, however, discolour with age and use.

The new face inserts containing New Generation BiLock profiles are available in chrome plate and raw brass only.

Construction / Refurbishment KeyingThe Australian Lock Company Pty Limited also offers agents a ‘Construction Keying’ facility. Put simply, the agent supplies these to builders, architects and building supervisors during construction or refurbishment.

There are 2 key benefits of Construction keying:

1 Cost (with no need for replacement at final stages).

2 Selective security during the different phases of construction.

The Facts... in summary:• Cores and shells are itemised separately on the customer’s order forms.

• The Agent orders the cylinders and shells to suit the door/building schedule. Construction cores can be purchased outright or ‘rented’ and ‘returned’ to the factory. Naturally, an administration fee applies to the latter options.

• Customers may choose to return the plugs and keys and pay a rental or administration fee only.

• The cores and keys are charged to the customer’s account when dispatched. Upon their return, the account is credited the total value less the administration fee (and damaged or missing stock).

• Construction keys are not intended for use as front line security, merely as a means of securing a building during the various stages of construction/refurbishment.

• The cores are keyed to 12 pins if factory built and will be supplied as the same code for each job, complete with two keys which will be charged to the agent’s account if not returned with the core, should the cores be ‘rented’.

Fortunately there are few products that simply cannot incorporate the QCC feature in the New Generation range.

Why have both?Simple really! The Quick Change Core provides the unique ability to recombinate or change lock access within seconds. It is no longer necessary to remove the entire cylinder door hardware for a compromised area to be secured. With New Generation Quick Change Core the interchangeable core can be easily removed, recombinated and reinstalled in seconds using the unique White colour coded QCC removal key. To further enhance security, cores can be interchanged between any of the wide range of New Generation BiLock products which are QCC compatible.

QCC has revolutionised the securing of installations and offers extraordinary convenience in any situation where quick, easy changes are essential. For example, where there are large glass entry doors with patched fittings, it is no longer necessary to go to the expense and inconvenience of removing the door from its hinges. Security during construction…How often do you hear of security breaches or careless damage during the often lengthy construction phases that have cost the project both time and money?

The Australian Lock Company has offered the building sector BiLock high security locking systems for two decades now. In 1997, we introduced an added feature known as “construction keying”. This added characteristic was launched in parallel with the patented Quick Change Core (QCC) onto the Australian market! This facility is available via any one of our accredited agents throughout Australia and selected international markets, and has afforded end users a significantly enhanced ability to maintain a system’s security.

Something as simple as colour coding to differentiate the level of access during the construction phase offers the developer or builder a genuine, added dimension when using QCC in security during construction.

Where to start at the construction site …

• The door hardware is fitted with the appropriate BiLock Quick Change Core (QCC) cylinder & installed to suit the door/building schedule.

• The raw construction cores (or plugs, as they are often called) are either keyed alike or keyed to differ in accordance with the builder’s requirements.

• These “construction” cores are either purchased or rented by the builder to better control security during construction and keep keying costs within budget … no need to install and remove complete hardware or even cyl-inders with BiLock’s colour coded construction keying system.

Construction keying keeps rekeying costs down!The Construction cores are fully keyed to 12 pins and your nearest BiLock agent will explain how the system can be designed to suit your specific requirements during construction. The cores are supplied by the agent with

keys as required by project management. A QCC control key is sup-plied to management to facilitate the change of access levels.

Three tiers… then handover!It is simply a three tiered system of access using blue, green and red plastic inserts in ALCO’s brass, construction plug -

• Phase 1 … The “Blue” level! The blue coloured insert is used during the initial general construction stage of the project through to completion of the shell. For instance, access may be limited to say, plumbers!

• Phase 2 … The “Green” level!By simply removing the core and replacing it with a new core containing the green insert, the developer/builder will then be covered through to lock-up stage and/or finishing trades. For instance access may be limited to say, electricians and plasterers!

• Phase 3 … The “Red” level!Again, by simply removing the “green” coloured insert and replacing with a new core containing the red insert, these locks take the developer/builder through to completion of finished trades and/or through the defects period and on to actual hand over to the tenant/owner/s. For instance access may be limited to say, painters and decorators!

• Phase 4 … Occupant takes ownership!Again, by simply removing the core [or plug] containing the red insert and replacing it with a keyed-up plug [in Chrome Plate, Satin Chrome, Polished Brass or other finish offered by Australian Lock Company]. On hand-over, the BiLock New Generation key is presented to the proud new owner. This key has not been on site previously

and any perceived risk to the keying integrity has been eliminated.

Series Six ... Australian Lock’s Alternative Six Pin In-line SeriesSeries Six is a quality six pin lock barrel, which is easily fitted into existing key systems. The Series Six product range currently covers the most common cylinder barrels and will continue to expand according to market needs. In fact, there are well over 30 different Series Six plug types.

Profiles which are registered designs afford customers peace of mind. These profiles are created to be purchased exclusively or on a shared or multi level basis. In designing Series Six profiles, the Australian Lock Company has made every attempt* to provide profiles through which no other key profile should pass.

Series Six also offers multi level master keying capabilities. The extensive plug range is available to retrofit most common locksets.

Australian Lock Company manufactures Series Six barrels and keys within their Unanderra factory to ensure complete product integrity. The very latest key milling technology has been designed and purpose built for the Australian Lock Company to ensure the customer can be guaranteed the high quality expected from Australia’s Award winning manufacturer of BiLock high security locking systems.

Individual company logos will often be seen on (coined into) the key heads. The key has been designed also with added material that gives it a width which cannot be readily or easily manufactured from existing key blanks. It should, as a result, only be available from our approved Series-Six locksmiths.

FATL140 Talon Trailer LockThe Talon Trailer Lock secures your trailer both on and off your stationary vehicle with the simple turn of a key. Fully cast from the toughest grade of stainless, marine grade, 316 steel, it is rust and corrosion resistant and features the high security BiLock key system which is both tamper and pick resistant. Talon is also recommended by many motoring authorities across Australia.

FATL150 Hitch LockThe Hitch Lock secures the hitch onto the back of any vehicle whether in motion or stationary. The machined groove on the end of the stainless steel pin is secured in place with the New Generation BiLock high security cylinder. The dust cap pushes into the key-way and an ‘O’ ring inside the

cylinder assists in preventing water and dust from entering. As an added security measure, it is worth noting the lock cannot be removed without the key fitted. All together, these features virtually eliminate worries!

FATL145 Trailer & Hitch PackageTalon Trailer Locks The Trailer & Hitch Package is specifically designed to protect investments such as boats, caravans, work trailers or horse floats. The set contains the Talon Trailer Lock, which, with the simple turn of a key, secures the trailer on and off the hitch, and the Talon Hitch Lock, which secures the hitch onto the back of the vehicle at all times.

SlamCam’s unique U shaped channel is more resilient to bending under force and is designed to provide up

to 15mm of engagement behind the striker plate on the door jamb. SlamCam’s design provides

additional security by deadlocking the U shaped channel bolt and suits virtually all Bilock camlocks. SlamCam

can be retrofitted into existing installations in 90 seconds. SlamCam allows the door or drawer to be deadlocked

shut by simply closing the door or drawer, making it ideal for securing high volume, high usage installations

This superbly designed and engineered vault is designed to assist in situations whereby individuals in their

normal course of employment require access to premises at irregular hours. For example, Schools (assembly

halls, gymnasiums), Rural Colleges (water storage) and City/Town Hall (large kitchen facilities).

The Access Vault provides selected access to a variety of users, while maintaining the integrity and security of

the individual premises. Installation can occur during construction when the flanged case can be located and

poured with the slab, or rendered into the wall.

• We are proud to announce that, in addition to both SCEC and the fire rating, the lock was also approved by an independent NATA accredited body to Australian Standards AS4145.2.1993 level D3 durability and level S3 physical security with K2 cylinder fitted.
