Welcome to our first quarterly market report for 2011... and what a harrowing start to the year it’s been for many Queenslanders; we continue to keep them in our thoughts as they slowly rebuild their lives. However, despite the teeming rain that’s bucketed down, our Agents have been surprised at the large attendances at open homes...the good news is that buyers are still out there, and eventually they will all make a decision, hence the ongoing cycle of property. You may have noticed the ‘Sales Architect’ signs around, and many people have asked, what it is that I do and offer? As a Registered Architect, I am best placed to understand your home, identify what makes your property unique and communicate why it is worth more to buyers. Also you and your potential buyers get access to architectural advice on your property, there may be more potential than you realised, from renovation to planning potential. Finally, I have lived in Alex for 10 years and have been a design industry professional on the sunshine coast for that time allowing me to have an intimate understanding of planning and building regulations and how to marry those in with the lifestyle elements that makes living at Alex Heads so special.

Plenty of great opportunities presented themselves in Alexandra Headland over the last year with some great entry level buying in a desirable beachside address. known as the Golden Triangle, there have been some great buys for first time buyers with a number of older 2 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom units only streets from the beach selling in the $290’s. Units in Camfield St, Juan St, Pacific Tce and Buderim Avenue have been some of the great locations where the opportunities were, and naturally they were snapped up pretty quickly, some only being on market for 35 days and with multiple offer scenarios. If you are interested what the market is doing, or how some advice on what is possible with your property I’d love to come and have a chat and give you a professional recommendation. We also have a weekly e-newsletter you may be interested in, to subscribe contact [email protected] and enter in the subject line “sales architect”.

Supporting The Agl Rescue Helicopter ServiceIn excess of 300 people embraced the racing spirit, attending a fundraising event for the AGL Rescue Helicopter service at Corbould Park, Caloundra. Complete with charity auctions, raffles, races and even promotional girls, the “who’s who” of the Sunshine Coast business community rolled out in their support for the vital emergency service.Mark McGill was one of the major sponsors of the event as a way to assist the helicopter service to raise funds making s substantial personal donation. Over the past few years, the race day and the charity ball have now grown to an annual event providing much needed funding resources to the organisation. “During the 3 weeks over the Christmas period our service flew over 127 missions, not only assisting with the flood relief operations but also serving day to day emergency needs on the Sunshine Coast during that same time,” said Business Development Manager of AGL Rescue Helicopters Service, Colin Brown. “We need all the support that we can get, every cent goes towards vital equipment to fund all the operations that assisted so many Queenslanders over the summer. The $30,000 raised on the night will go a long way in assisting us, we rely on the generosity of donations to keep the service in the air.”One of the highlights of the evening was an impressive display from the rescue helicopter as it flew into the centre of the race track and delivered the beautiful Jade Beedham and Julie Mott who volunteered to assist with the fundraising efforts for the evening. “It is amazing the skill that the pilots have, they are so professional to watch in action, it was great to help them and I know if my family need their help one day they are in skilful hands,” Jade said, “It’s a pleasure to work with Mark and help him support an organisation that provides value to all of us.”
