At Ali Jirde the safety and security of our guests and staff is our biggest priority. For this reason, we require all visitors to go through full security checks before entering the hotel grounds. Highly trained members of our security personnel, guard our grounds 24/7 so our guests can relax and feel more at ease. Additionally, we have over 50 securi-ty cameras in place across the hotel grounds offer-ing further peace of mind for our valued customers.

Ali Jirde, the first Somali Engineer, was born in 1919 in the Dariiqa region, of Sheikh. As the son of a prominent leader, Sheikh Mohamed Hussein; Ali Jirde was one of the first boys from the former Somaliland Protectorate to be sent for secondary education to Hantoub College for Boys in Sudan.

Ali Jirde Hotel was originally the residence of Ali Sheikh Mohamed Jirde, brother of the owner of the hotel Amina-Weris

Sheikh Mohamed Jirde.

Ali Jirde, the first Somali Engineer, was born in 1919 in the Dariiqa region, of Sheikh. As the

son of a prominent leader, Sheikh Mohamed Hussein; Ali Jirde was one of the first boys from the former Somaliland Protectorate to be sent for secondary education to Hantoub College for Boys in Sudan. Following his graduation, he was selected by the Somaliland Protectorate Authorities to complete an engineering degree in the UK. In fact, Ali was the first engineer in the whole of Somali speaking population. Ali was head of civil engineering at the Ministry of Public Works, and following the unification with Italian Somaliland, Ali then went on and became the first director-general of the Ministry of Public Works in Mogadishu taking over from the Italians.

In 1957 as a senior civil servant with the British administration, Ali Jirde applied for a piece of land to build his own house to the administration, he became the first Somali to be granted a plot of land in the Sha’ab area which, at that time, was reserved only for government buildings.

The house, built and designed by Ali Jirde, became a show piece and an example of excellence and beauty ever since and is what is now ALI JIRDE HOTEL.

Today, while the Ali Jirde Hotel boasts new additions to its initial structure, much of the unique original architecture remains. The old building is a show piece of quality and design of Ali Jirde.

After Ali left the civil service in 1964, he created his own business, a construction company which became extremely successful. One of the main projects “Somali Contract” which his company undertook was the huge American Embassy which was built in Mogadishu.

Ali Jirde was incredibly accomplished, and his business was one of the most prosperous and successful business of his time. As a respected and admired member of society, Ali Jirde was renowned for his integrity and in-depth understanding and dedication to his work. He was devoted to his people and community and was well known for supporting and guiding many young Somalis who sought careers within construction.

unending love for his family, friends and country. We will always love you, cherish your memory and pray for you.

Most importantly, Ali Jirde was incredibly charitable and a giving person. He donated and gave generous-ly to individuals and other worthy causes.

Ali relocated to his home country Somaliland when the civil war in Mogadishu began, and the people in Somaliland were hit hard as their livelihoods and businesses were targeted.

Ali truly devoted himself to his people. Soon after he settled in Hargaisa, he founded the Hargeisa Cen-ter for Disability Rehabilitation of the Somaliland Red Crescent Society. The Center provides artificial

limbs for those who needed them, and it was invalu-able and much needed in a country like Somaliland where many war veterans from the SNM struggle greatly benefitted from such services. To this day, the Center remains successful, and functioning to serve and help those in need.

Ali Jirde was blessed to have lived a long, peaceful, successful and satisfying life. He passed away at the age of 87 in his beloved home in Hargeisa. Today he is buried in the Dariiqa cemetery, alongside his be-loved wife Marian and his parents (May Allah grant them all the highest level of paradise, Ameen)

It was my first time back to Hargeisa after 13years. I know this time I wanted my experience to be memorable. This time I was travelling with my mother and I wanted to make sure she would have a comfortable stay. I came across Ali Jirde Hotel through a television AD. The AD presented a beautiful hotel that I couldn’t resist. I knew from that AD this was going to be the hotel my mother and I would stay. When I finally reached Hargeisa and entered Ali Jirde hotel, I knew I have made the best choice!! The hotel is situated in the most central part of Hargeisa. This beautiful place presents guests a true Somaliland experience. As you enter the hotel via the front entrance you could smell fragrant flowers. The hotel is showered with the most beautiful plants. It feels like you have entered a little paradise, you cannot help but appreciate the effort that the hotel put to present guest with this artistic garden creativity. The hotel holds bespoke furnishing, luxury marble bathrooms and most importantly the beds are to die for!!! I have never slept so comfortably. The mattress felt like you were sleeping on a cloud. (and I’m not exaggerating) But aside from everything, what makes the hotel special are the staff. The staff at Ali Jirde have mastered the art of hospitality. The front house team, housekeeping, restaurant workers, waiters and security etc., have all made me feel part of the family. They always make sure that I have an experience I won’t forget. What’s also a plus about this hotel, is the Wednesday night entertainment. I am one room away indulging a cultural Somaliland dances and food. You get to watch live performances from renounced singers and dancers.

I could go on praising this hotel. I’m so glad I’m here and also my mother couldn’t be happier. I have so far stayed 1 month at Ali Jirde and I will continue to do so for another month. Ali Jirde is by far the best hotel in Somaliland. Anyone who wants to experience high class hospitality, Ali Jirde Hotel is the place to be.

Lovely Hotel It was my first visit to Somaliland, when we arrived at the Airport; I was welcomed by Ali Jirde Hotel driver at exit gate of the airport - excellent customer service!

In the hotel, they have fast and reliable Wi-Fi, very important point for me, since I bring my work along with my trip. They serve nice food too, with much choice from local to international food. One thing that the most I like was Wednesday night Somali traditional Music it was amazing.

The staffs were good and professional. I can easily communicate with them in Somali, Arabic and English.

I really love my trip to Hargeysa, and I will back to Ali Jirde Hotel for my stay next time.

I have just visited Ali Jirde and I’ve got to say their accommodations was in my own opinion very excellent. The way the food was tasting was impeccable and on top of that the staff were extremely friendly and kind towards me. The service was great and they brought the food out nice and quick and it was fresh so that was a plus point. I highly recommend visiting Ali Jirde as it is very professional and on top of that it is a very warming and welcoming restaurant/hotel.

Hello, I had been staying in Ali Jirde and everything I had glanced over was superb. I stayed in a luxurious double room for 4 nights and it was ultimately one of the best. The overall look, the food and the overall atmosphere was booming. Everything I needed or wanted was available so extra points for that, another thing to point out was how clean and accessible the rooms and toilets were and I like the design very much, the price wasn’t too high and it was worth it in the end. The beds were nice and comfy. I definitely recommend visiting Ali Jirde so u can also make a good review and see for yourself.

Happy with Ali Jirde Hotel hargeysa When I decide to book to stay at Ali Jirde hotel, I had idea what I feel like. It was my third stay this year (2020) having visited January and August, I felt like staying at home. One thing that the most I like is the cleanliness. The hotel is very clean and I think I deserved what I paid for. The room size of deluxe is quite comfortable, complete with the room facility. I also could open my email as the internet access is fast to connect.

I loved the breakfast in their airy restaurant. Good spread of food every morning. The breakfast is quiet variable and tasteful. The location of Ali Jirde Hotel is in down Hargeysa and major malls of the city are in walking distance. I wish to come back again and again. Thank you Ali Jirde hotel for making my stay enjoyable.
