Lewis Carroll is the pen name of the famous English author Charles Lutwidge Dodgson (1832 - 1898). His most well known writings are Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and its sequel Through the Looking-Glass and What Alice Found as well as the poems The Hunting of the Snark and Jabberwocky.

My name’s Margherita… and I live and work in a little place called Urbino, in the centre of Italy. I wake up in the morning, have breakfast and instead of a spoon I use a paintbrush and paint, paint, paint.

It was a hot, hot day. Her boring sister was

reading a boring book – with no pictures! –

and Alice didn’t know what to do.

When suddenly ... she saw ... a white rabbit.

Oh no! I’m late! She’ll be ANGRY!

I’m late!

I’m late! I’m late!

Her sister didn’t notice. Her sister didn’t care.

Alice got up, and followed the rabbit.

But rabbits live in holes. Under the ground.

Deep under the ground. It was a very deep hole.

Alice fell, and fell, and fell.

Until ... fi nally she reached the bottom.

‘Where am I?’ thought Alice. It was a good

question. Where was she?

What was behind the little door? And what was

in the bottle? These were also good questions.

Alice knew it was a bad idea, but she did it just

the same. She drank from the bottle, and...

... she grew smaller

and smaller!

Oh no! She didn’t

have the key! It was

on the table!
