A committee of the Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce has been extra busy lately...developing a new brand for the Columbus area community!

The branding project was deemed a priority after the April 2015 Chamber Planning Session to better highlight community assets under a cohesive message and visual identity.

Over the past year, almost 50 in-person interviews and 150

household surveys were conducted and analyzed to provide the creative team with primary research.

A team of local graphic designers, copywriters and strategists was then assembled to create the branding. Those creatives selected are: Cassie Rief, Tammy Feagin, Sara Keeler, Dave Harrington, Yaramis Ramos Hernandez, Taylour Kumpf, Scott Margheim, and Chase Gronenthal.

The project is being overseen by the Chamber’s new time Marketing Director Amanda Polacek, as well as co-chair Dee Hanson. The group hopes to unveil the new brand to the public in spring 2017.

DRIVE FOR FIVE Connecting Talent With Columbus Area Employers

The purpose of the Drive for Five is to provide skilled employees to our supporting partners, filling the more than 1180 available jobs. We do this by recruiting skilled talent, providing educational programs to students, and offering training to current employees to make them more effective and satisfied in their roles. In the past eleven months we’ve accomplished the following: On 25 recruiting trips, 1385

job seekers heard about the opportunities in Columbus.

440 resumes have been received and distributed to Drive for Five partners.

27 interns participated in 3 networking events.

40 college students toured local businesses.

We hosted a job fair that brought 320 job seekers, 110 of them from outside of Columbus.

2,753 students have been informed about STEM jobs by the Dream It. Do It. Dream Team.

292 students learned how to create a resume and interview for a job.

394 first graders learned about on-the-job equipment at Vehicle Day.

380 students learned how to balance their household budget

194 professionals improved their skills through supervisor training.

350 high school students toured our manufacturing businesses.

But wait, there’s more! In December, 316 students will learn the

benefits of higher education at College Week.

More than 6000 Columbus alumni will be invited to move back home.

To learn how you can be a supporter of Drive for Five, contact Kara Asmus at [email protected].

SO WHAT IS DRIVE FOR FIVE?

CONNECTING WITH STUDENTS AND EMPLOYERS AT COLUMBUS HIGH SCHOOL CAREER DAY Columbus High School recently hosted a career fair for over 1,200 students. The students learned about post-secondary programs and opportunities and were exposed to the great job opportunities Columbus has to offer. Employers and college representatives gave advice in regards to pursuing career options and appropriate educational/career paths. The Drive for Five supported the career fair by providing lunch to the exhibitors and by hosting a Dream It! Do It! booth for students to visit.
