A video by Joe Schilp from the Media Center provided a recap of how faculty, students and staff continued to contribute to the success of the college during the previous academic year. Dr. Janet Eber was honored for her 50 years of service to the college, while other faculty and staff were presented with Excellence Awards from the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development. Serving as this year’s keynote speaker was Dr. Ashley Finley, senior advisor to the president and vice president of Strategic Planning and Partnerships, Office of the President, from the Association of American Colleges & Universities. Finley spoke on the power of sharing student success stories and ways in which faculty, staff and administrators can foster equity and excellence in learning. ALL EMPLOYEE CONVOCATION HIGHLIGHTS CCM SUCCESS STORIES At the Fall 2019 Convocation held on Tuesday, there were many accomplishments to celebrate, as the college community marked the start of a new academic year. TO PRESENT “SONGS AT SUNSET” Come spend a late summer evening enjoying a popular classic rock music concert, “Songs at Sunset,” featuring two student and alumni bands and Morris County’s own Heart of Gold band led by CCM Music Professor Joe Bilotti. The concert is free and takes place Friday, September 20, from 7 – 9 p.m. in the outdoor amphitheater located in front of the Edward J. Yaw Music Technology Center. In the event of rain, the concert will take place in the Dragonetti Auditorium in the Student Community Center. Read more

FREE EMPLOYEE YOGA CLASSES

RETURN FOR FALL SEMESTER Increase flexibility, feel calm and relax with yoga this Fall Semester. Classes also may include extra body workout with stretching and strengthening, Pilates, light weights and more. Classes take place Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 5 to 6 p.m. starting on September 9 and running until December 17 in HPE, Room 120. Be sure to bring a sticky mat.

PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION OPEN

HOUSE Whether it’s getting a job, obtaining a better job or getting better at the job you’re in, CCM is here to help individuals achieve their career goals. The Center for Workforce Development at CCM will be hosting an Open House on Saturday, September 7, from 9 a.m. to noon in the Student Community Center’s Davidson Rooms. The Open House provides an opportunity to meet instructors and staff, learn about education and training opportunities, sign up for courses and receive answers to questions pertaining to the courses and industry needs. During the Open House, informational career workshops also will be offered free. Read more

TITANS TABLE PROGRAM PROVIDES

FOOD FOR CCM STUDENTS Students who are hungry, forgot their wallet or are struggling to pay for food, now have an option here on campus to get something to eat – no questions asked. Students should be directed to the following offices bearing the Titans Table logo for a snack, meal, water bottle or other necessity.

• Health Services, CH 266, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. • Athletics/HPE, Trainer’s office on the first floor, 9

a.m. to 8 p.m. • Accessibility Services/LRC on the first floor,

Monday/Wednesday/Fridays, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

• EOF, CH 211, Mondays/Wednesdays/Fridays, 8:30 to 4:30 p.m., and Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Health Services also has numerous personal hygiene items such as deodorant, soap, bath towels, toothbrushes, shampoo, laundry pods, spare clothing, along with access to showers, and washer and dryer. If Health Services is closed, please refer students to the office of Student Development and Enrollment Management, SCC 132, for non-food, non-medical emergency needs. Staff and faculty also are welcomed to participate in the Titans Table program.

LEADERSHIP TEAM Student leaders serving on the college’s chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society are planning a full calendar of events to broaden the experience of CCM students and to assist the community. TUTORING CENTER HAPPENINGS

Tutoring officially begins on Wednesday, September 11, at the CCM Tutoring Center. During this week, students are encouraged to stop by, access computers, get assistance with how to make appointments and familiarize themselves with the office.

A variety of services is available to students including one-on-one appointments, walk-ins, group tutoring and academic workshops. View the Tutoring Center Flyer

BEST HABITS FOR SUCCESS

The CCM library has put together a list of resources aimed at promoting good student habits. CCM faculty and staff are encouraged to direct students to the library where they can take advantage of the materials that are available to them throughout the semester. TITAN DIRECT EMAIL ISSUE

To resolve the problem of a Mac browser crashing when using the email function in Titans Direct, follow the steps below to setup the default email reader app:

• Open Mail. • Choose Preferences from the Mail menu, and then

click General. Or if you are prompted to set up an email account, add your account, then choose Preferences from the Mail menu.

• Choose your email app from the “Default email reader” pop-up menu.

If that does not work, try opening the email application the browser is set to use, it may need you to accept terms and service conditions for the app to work correctly.

KUDOS Professor Todd L.W. Doney, Art and Design, now has his paintings hanging in two restaurants. Several of his works inspired by the Great Swamp, which adjoins his backyard, are on display at the restaurant Ninety Acres at Natirar in Peapack-Gladstone. And four paintings from his “Italy Visited” series are hanging in Trattoria Biagio in Stirling. Those paintings were inspired by a CCM-sponsored trip he and his wife made to Italy.
