oy, did we have a blast at our recent Back Yard BBQ! Guests mixed and mingled with residents and staff and took advantage of our outdoor amenities, including walking

trails and gardens, lakeside gazebo, bocce court and putting green. The St. George Village extraordinary culinary staff fired up the grills and served up a tasty BBQ buffet, while the Loose Shoes Band provided musical entertainment. It was one of those perfect warm summer evenings, full of fun and friends.

Be Active, Be Engaged, Be at Home

St. George Village is full of unexpected, delightful discoveries — we call them hidden treasures. One such treasure is our resident art gallery.

We have a whole host of talented folks living at St. George Village, several of whom are painters. After discovering that there were more than a dozen residents with this shared talent, the group approached Executive Director Mark Lowell with the idea of creating a gallery to showcase their work. The concept was approved and on May 20, the first paintings were hung on the Featured Artists wall.

“About a dozen of us agreed to contribute two paintings each for the first exhibition. We had no idea what people would offer in terms of their paintings, but the quality is outstanding,” said Wendy Wimberly, one of the organizers of the project. “We decided to leave the first round of paintings on display for three months and then we’ll send out a call for more.”

Artist bios are available on the wall so that visitors can learn more about their talented neighbors and their paintings.

“The excitement about the gallery continues,” said Mrs. Wimberly. “I see people stopping to look at the paintings and ask questions all the time."
