ALL GIRLS CRICKET
COMPETITION 2015/2016
Sponsored by:
FAQs and other information
The All Girls Cricket Competition is back, BIGGER AND BETTER, for the 2015/2016 season. Contact your local participating cricket club (see list over the page) to find out how you can join an all girls
team and improve your skills, stay active and enjoy a fun summer of cricket and camaraderie.
Ambassador of the Competition: Emma Inglis
VicSpirit (Victorian Women’s Team) Background to the Spartan All Girls Cricket Competition
The competition was first launched in 2013 for girls who may have come through the Milo in2Cricket and T20Blast programs or had an interest in cricket, to play in junior games. Previously the only path to junior cricket had been to join in a mixed underage competition, generally playing with boys. The All Girls Cricket Competition has proven a very popular option for girls to play with and against other girls, while still having
the option of participating in a mixed team.
General AGCC enquiries are welcomed and can be made to AGCC Committee Secretary, Libby Nicholls: 0438 228 806, [email protected]

QUESTIONS ANSWERS
How old do I need to be to play?
The All Girls Cricket Competition has two age groups -‐ 13 & Under (Wednesday games) and 16 & Under (Sunday games). The age cut off date is 1st September.
Am I too young or too old to play in this competition?
If you can play cricket, you are not too young to join this competition. Overage players, wanting to join this competition or play in an all girls team, should contact their local club to discuss options available to them.
Do I need experience? Everyone is welcome and encouraged to join although the following will give an indication of the experience required: • You may have gone through the Milo in2Cricket and T20Blast programs and be
ready for the next step • You may be playing Club cricket already • You may be playing at school and want to play Club cricket • NOTE: If you would like to start playing cricket, please contact your local club
to find out about Milo in2Cricket and T20 Blast options.
What is the registration fee?
The registration fee for this competition is $120. If you are new to the competition this includes your club shirt and club hat. The fee also helps to pay for equipment, cricket balls, ground hire and events throughout the season.
What equipment do I need to play?
Players will be required to play in a Club shirt and white cricket pants. As the competition will be played on synthetic wickets, runners will also be required. There will be a shared playing kit (bat, pads, gloves, helmets) available. All players will be required to buy their own protective equipment or box. Players may wish to purchase their own equipment (bat, pads, gloves, helmets). Participating Clubs can assist in providing names of places and the type of equipment to buy.
When will the season start?
Season launch: Wed Oct 14 13 & Under (Wed games) Pre Christmas dates: Oct 21,28, Nov 4, 11, 18, 25, Dec 2 Post Christmas dates: Jan 27, Feb 3, 10, 17, 24 (Finals) 16 & Under (Sunday games) Pre Christmas dates: Oct 25, Nov 1, 8, 15, 22, 29, Dec 6 Post Christmas dates: Jan 31, Feb 7, 14, 21, 28 (Finals)
Where and when will training be?
The participating Clubs will manage the training sessions but it is anticipated there would be one training session each week which will go for an hour. The night that this is scheduled will be decided by the coaches and team management of each team.
When will games be played?
13 & Under games will be played on Wednesday nights 5.00-‐7.30pm.
16 & Under games will be played on Sunday mornings 8.45 – 11.30am.
Where will the games be played?
The games will be played as a home and away fixture. The grounds for the competition will be determined before the season commences.
What will be the format of the games?
13 & Under Wednesday games
Pre Christmas: Modified rules. 8 players a side. 16 overs. Players bat in pairs for 4 overs each.
Post Christmas: T20. 11 players per side, 20 overs each team.
16 & Under Sunday games
11 players per side, 25 overs each team.
The main goal is to ensure all players get the opportunity to bat and bowl during each game.
How long will a game take?
Games will all be one day games lasting between 2 – 3 hours. The rules are designed to ensure there is as little “time wasting” as possible to minimise the total time the game takes (for example bowlers only bowling from one end).
How many girls play in a team?
During a match there are between 8 -‐11 girls on the field, depending on the game format. Ideally the teams consist of 13 girls as this allows for everyone to get an opportunity to bat and bowl during the game, and will also accommodate those times when other commitments mean a player is not available. The team can still play if they have a minimum of 7 players.
Who will coach the team?
Once teams are allocated, parents within each team will have the opportunity to fill this very important role. Cricket Victoria will assist in providing a Level 1 coaching course for parent volunteers wanting to coach. All participating Clubs will provide designated support to assist with Coaches and team training. The parent list will also provide the volunteers for the other roles that ensure a smooth and enjoyable season.
What league is the All Girls Cricket Competition part of?
ISEC (Inner South East Cricket) runs the All Girls Cricket Competition. ISEC along with the All Girls Cricket Competition Committee will be responsible for the management of the competition including fixtures, rules, promotion etc.
What involvement does Cricket Victoria have in this competition?
Cricket Victoria plays a supporting role for this competition. Advising to the ISEC All Girls Cricket Competition Committee, they will provide some funding, coaching support, promotional and operational advice to help make this competition successful and enduring.
If my current Club doesn’t have a girls team does that matter?
NO. You are welcome to play with one of the participating Clubs as well as continue with your current Club. This competition is an All Girls Competition and we anticipate over the coming years more and more Clubs will register a side. All ISEC and SECA clubs are aware of this new initiative.
How and when do I register?
You will be able to register on-‐line via the website of your participating club. The websites of the participating Clubs are noted below.
Registrations will commence in August 2015.
