My name is Ian Darwin and I am the Team Lead of Green Mountain Energy’s Western 

PA Retail team. Ms. Knepshield joined our team several months ago as one of our part time 

sales representatives. Her official role was simply to approach people at various events and 

storefronts across Pittsburgh and convince them to switch their electric supply to Green 

Mountain’s wind or solar electric plans. However, Claire is a particularly ambitious and tenacious 

employee. She very quickly took it upon herself to learn and understand how our management 

worked, the roles of our management staff, and the behind­the­scenes work that goes into 

building up our market. She then approached me, our partnership coordinator, and our area 

sales manager and strategized with us about how she could participate and help out.  

A few examples of these above­and­beyond activities include: researching about and 

corresponding with event coordinators and business owners to initiate partnership relationships 

and sponsorship packages, training newer agents, assisting with scheduling, and helping with 

the tracking of inventory. Claire is very self­confident and takes it upon herself to find ways she 

can stand out. Her help was very appreciated and significant. She is incredibly good at getting 

results and committing to a project. She was a great asset to have on my team.
