As I have always said and will continue to say, Together Everyone Achieves More. We have a fantastic, dynamic and caring community of dedicated students, parents and educational professionals who come together to be part of a special school. We are a school on the move, a school with a focus, a school that is committed to developing Catholic Leaders, one student at a time with a renewed “I WILL” spirit! On behalf of our great staff here at All Saints and our wonderful CSPC, I would like to wish you a restful and reinvigorating summer and look forward to seeing you back in September. Lost and Found
We would ask that you encourage your child to check the lost and found articles at school if they are missing articles of clothing. The pile of lost clothing in the lost and found has been increasing. If these articles are not claimed by June 25th they will be donated to charity. You may also call the school and make an appointment to come and check the lost and found articles.

“Blessed are those who have not seen, and yet believe.”John 20:29
The Sacrament of Confirmation
First Reconciliation Holy Communion
“Rejoice with me I have found my sheep who was lost.”
On April 10th, after prayer and preparation, All Saints’ Grade 2 students gathered at the Church to celebrate God’s forgiveness through the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Their parents presented their children to a priest for him to hear their First Confession. Reconciliation is about the story of the “Good Shepherd” who welcomes with joy, the lost sheep and issues the invitation to others.
“He took bread, and broke it, and gave it to them.”
On April 22nd and April 28th, our students received
their First Holy Communion at All Saints Church.
Celebrating the First Eucharist allowed the
students entry for the first time, into the full
celebration of the Eucharist. They are sent forth,
filled with the Holy Spirit, to continue to share in this
Holy meal. In receiving their first Eucharist children
learned that Jesus will always be with them, will
help strengthen them, and that He loved them very
much.
It was a memorable milestone for the students and
their families as they grow in their faith. We thank
Father Andrzej Glaba, all the teachers and
community members who prepared the students
for their Sacraments, as well as the parents for
preparing their children to receive these special
sacraments.
Congratulations to all the students! May you always
feel Jesus’ love and presence in your lives as He
guides your way and nourishes your faith!
“Jesus sent us the Holy Spirit to bring us closer
together in the family of the Church.”
On Sunday, May 27th, the grade 7
students received the sacrament of
Confirmation. The ceremony was beautiful. On
behalf of all the staff at All Saints, we would like to
congratulate the students on receiving the gift of
the Holy Spirit and we thank the parents, the
sponsors, and all family members for their loving
support.

First Day Procedure for Tuesday, September 4, 2018
The first day of school for the 2018-2019 academic year will be Tuesday, September 4, 2018. Students are
asked to go directly to the school yard where class lists will be posted on the walls. We ask all the children to
meet their teachers at their posted grade levels at the
bell time of 8:30 a.m.
Safe Arrival and Departure
Safe & Caring
Schools
Visitors to the School
Toronto Catholic District School Board policy states that all visitors to the school MUST report to the office. This is foremost to ensure the safety of all students. In an effort to promote the independence of the students and to ensure the integrity of programs by minimizing interruptions during class time, we request that students arrive on time for the school day with all the items they require (i.e. homework, lunch, physical education).
Allergen Aware
Please take special note that we have children in our school who have very serious allergies to nut products. According to Sabrina’s Law, we must make every effort to maintain a nut free environment in order to help keep all children safe. We ask that you not bring in or send in any food items to be shared with other students in the class. Please note that baked goods and treats are not permitted. We apologize for the inconvenience; however, we are certain you will agree that these measures are necessary in order to ensure the safety and welfare of our children.
Personal Property
The school does not take any responsibility for the loss or theft of personal items brought onto school premises by students. The school will therefore, not reimburse or replace lost or stolen articles, under any circumstances. This will include all articles of clothing (label items with a marker); personal school supplies such as fancy or expensive pens, markers, binders and pencil cases, etc.; simple or electronic toys, calculators, laptops, iPod’s, CD’s, cell phones, etc. Please note that collector cards of any kind are not permitted, in addition to all cell phones and any other social media devices. These items will be immediately confiscated by staff and brought to the Principal’s attention. We ask both parents and students for their full co-operation in this matter. (Please note that the Board’s insurance policy
does not cover property owned by staff or students).
We continue to remind you to contact the school before 8:30 a.m. if your child is going to be absent from school. If we are unable to take your call, you can leave a message on our answering machine. Please ensure that we have a current emergency number where you can be contacted. If you are picking up your child early, please send a note to your child’s teacher. Please be sure to report to the office to sign them out. If you are returning before the end of the day, please sign your child back in at the office. All students on buses must ride the buses to and from school every day.
Reporting of cancellations or closures due to inclement weather
Cancellation of school bus transportation or school closures due to inclement weather will be reported through the following vehicles: News
releases to all media outlets in Toronto (Note: although the news release is provided to the media outlets, there is no guarantee that all television and radio stations will broadcast the information in a
timely fashion.) Communications will endeavour to send an email to everyone on exchange to advise them of any cancellations or closures. Communications will also endeavour to send out the information electronically to E-News subscribers (Note: If you do not already subscribe to E-News, but wish to do so, please visit our website at www.tcdsb.org and click on the E-News icon on the top right hand side of the homepage). Updates will also be posted on the Board’s 24-hour information line, 416-222-8282, extension 2873, as well as it being posted on the Board’s website at www.tcdsb.org or www.tcdsb.org/weather.html , as well as on Twitter @TCDSB. The Transportation Department will also post this information on its website at http://www.schoolbus.to/c_home.asp
A Matter of Safety
Please ensure that your children are dressed appropriately for the warm weather. They should have a hat and appropriate footwear. Running shoes and socks are considered appropriate footwear. We ask that students not come to school with sandals and/or flip flops as they can pose a hazard to students when they are playing outside.
Inclement Weather On days when the weather is
inclement, the students may be permitted to enter the building at 8:15 am. On such days, the recess periods may be indoor and those students who stay for lunch will be supervised in the building. Weather conditions must be particularly severe, cold weather alone does not warrant an early entry into the building or indoor recess periods. Those decisions will be made accordingly. We believe that children profit greatly from recess breaks as they get out into the fresh air and burn off some energy in play activities. This will make them more alert and ready to continue their studies when they come in. It is important for children, particularly the younger children in the primary grades, to come to school dressed properly for the weather. A reminder to everyone that students who are well enough to be at school are well enough to go out for recess. We do not have personnel to supervise students who wish to stay in for recess due to illness. If they are too ill to go out for recess, then they should be home for the day. This will allow for quicker recovery and less teaching and learning time lost to illness. For information on the TCDSB Guidelines for weather conditions, please go to
http://www.tcdsb.org/FORSTUDENTS/HealthandSafety/Documents/GuidelinesforWeatherConditions.pdf
Attendance, Punctuality and Preparation
The Education Act states that students must attend school regularly and punctually. Parents are to notify the school (416)393-5290 of a child’s absence. You may call anytime and leave a message on the answering machine. Students who arrive late for school must check in at the main office to ensure safe arrival and to help in keeping accurate attendance profiles. Attendance referrals will be sent to the Social Worker and persistent tardiness may result in progressive discipline. Students are expected to arrive prior to the bell. All students are to arrive prepared to work and learn. Preparation includes the completion of daily assignments that are done to the best of the individual student’s ability. Preparation also implies that the student devotes appropriate time to study in advance of test situations.
A reminder that the school parking lot is for staff only. Please do not use it for parking as we do not have enough spots for staff. Our students have been instructed not to enter the
parking lot for safety reasons. Father Glaba has graciously volunteered the use of the church parking lot for our parents. Please observe and respect the “in” and “out” flow in the church parking lot. There is absolutely NO PARKING in the handicapped spaces, or in the fire route at the front of the school. The fine is substantial and we need to have those spaces clear for their appropriate use by those that need them. A reminder to all that Renault is strictly a “Drop Off Kiss and Ride”, and there is absolutely no parking permitted within the sign boundaries. Everyone is encouraged to use the Kiss and Ride in the school parking lot. Police and Parking Enforcement have assured us that Renault will be closely monitored for proper use.
Medication
Principals, teachers and support staff of the TCDSB are not permitted to administer any type of prescription medication during the school day, unless we have written authorization signed by you the parent, and the prescribing physician. The forms to dispense any medication must be updated on a regular basis and are available from the school principal. Please be advised that staff in TCDSB schools will not dispense non-prescription medications to students. Students who need “puffers” should have one at school and at home. All medications will be stored in the main office. Please notify the school if your child suffers from any type of allergy.
Parking
Library News
As we approach the end of the school year, we
would like to ask for your cooperation in returning
library books to the library by Friday, June 15th.
Please also remember to return book bags, as
they may be re-labelled and re-used again next
year. Thank you kindly!
Extra-Curricular Activities
Volunteer Tea
On the morning of May 31st, All Saints opened their doors and warmly welcomed our volunteers into the gymnasium. The tea was a small thank you from the staff and students to the volunteers who have assisted the school on numerous occasions throughout the school year. During the tea, volunteers were entertained by musical performances. All of the performances were beautiful and truly reflected the gratitude that all the staff and students wanted to convey to the volunteers of All Saints. Without all of our volunteers, All Saints would not be the special place that it is. Thank you to everyone who volunteered at the school this year, your efforts and talents are greatly appreciated.
Jump Rope for Heart 2018 The annual Jump Rope for Heart Event took place on Friday, May 11th.The school yard was a sea of red and white and the entire student population took part. Each grade skipped for 30 minutes to raise funds for the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Funds raised help to support research, education and place defibrillators in public buildings. Funds raised also earn All Saints points for sporting equipment and electronic items for the school. Fund raising prizes for the students will be distributed by mid-June. To date we have raised approximately $9,186.90. Thank you very much for supporting this important cause.
Special Olympics Race On May 23rd, All Saints participated in the TCDSB Special Olympic Race at the PanAm Stadium at York University. This event was a fun and inspirational event for all athletes, coaches and spectators. The students ran in 50m sprint races and were indeed brave in their attempts. We were proud of their accomplishments. Congratulations go out to Teresa Barbara, Michael Thantri, Christian Balzamo, Nicholas Kouretas, Felipe Paez-Ordonez, Dominic Paula, Frank Maltezos, Dennis Bogdani and Mario Zefi for showing us all what success truly is.
Grade Eight Graduation On June 20th, our Grade eight students will bid their last formal farewell to All Saints School. We will bid our final farewell to the graduates in our “Clap Out”. Our graduates will walk through the school to the respectful applause of the rest of the school lined up outside their classrooms. We look forward to this very emotional time for all! Staff and students will participate in day-long activities after this farewell. A formal graduation lunch will be held at Julius Banquet Hall followed by a dance. Later that evening we will convene at All Saints Gym for our Annual Awards Presentations.
All Saints is pleased to announce that The Angel Foundation for Learning, the charitable organization devoted to assisting students within TCDSB schools, has approved our school’s funding request in support of our excursion to Niagara Falls. Serving TCDSB students and making a positive difference, we congratulate The Angel Foundation for Learning for helping students since its inception in 1987. Donations to the Foundation are welcome and can be sent to: The Angel Foundation for Learning, 80 Sheppard Avenue East, Toronto, ON M2N 6E8. Tax receipts for donations of $20.00 or more will be issued. For more information about the Foundation visit www.angelfoundationforlearning.org
All Saints Swim Team On April 28th and 29th, the Toronto Catholic District School Board held its annual Swim Meet. There were over 1,300 hundred students from 30 different schools who participated in the event. All Saints was represented by 37 students from Grades 2 to 8. Congratulations to all the swimmers from the All Saints team for a job well done. We made it to the Finals in 9 of the 74 events and placed 25th overall out of the 30 schools. This was a good showing considering All Saints was one of the smaller schools in the Meet and we had many “first-time” participants on the team. The team included the following swimmers: Arianna Faienza Elena Sipar Chloe Fronczak Madison Ferrer Carissa Piccolo Josephine Nucara Elise Piccolo Nadia Guido Esana Sipar Julia Pizzonia Emma Wong Nicole Belluzzo Amelia Dolezel Julianne Dias Krystyna McMullan Sophia Perzia Cassandra Cescon Leanna Morello Maja Monahan Ethan Miranda Igne Naujalyte Madison Attard Isabella Dolezel Masi Cianfarani Isabella Centritto Mila Cianfarani Julia Flaim Jason Belluzzo Tessa Tagliarino Naya Elder Weronika Ogrodniczak Martin Naydenov Alanna Stalteri Sophia Pisan John Centritto Denis Samuel Avery Murray A special congratulations to Cassandra Cescon who finished fourth in both the Girls 9 and under 25 meter Freestyle event and the Girls 9 and under 25 Meter Backstroke event. Cassandra also finished eighth in the Girls 9 and under 25 meter Breaststroke event. Thank you to all the swimmers for your commitment to the team and for proudly representing All Saints. Also, thank you to the coaches, John Guido, Felix Dolezel, Laura Monahan, Gabe Piccolo, Michael Dodaro, Adam Belluzzo and Robert Flaim for volunteering their time to assist with the team. Thank you to Sabina Dolezel and Petya Pisan who also assisted as parent volunteers. We encourage everyone to come out for the Swim Team next year and be part of a truly memorable event.
All Saints Track and Field
This year, All Saints had another fantastic Track and Field year! We placed third at the Divisional Meet
and fifth at the Regional Meet. Thanks to our outdoor DPA routine throughout the year, and the
commitment of our coaches and students, we were very well prepared for all of the track and field events.
We would like to congratulate each student and coach who participated in the track and field events for all
of their successes. We would also like to acknowledge the outstanding performances of our students at
the City Track and Field meet, where they competed with the best student athletes in the city. The following
students competed at the City Meet:

Eco School The Green Team has been very busy the last couple of months organizing our Earth Hour in March and our City of Toronto Clean Up Day in April. On March 23rd, students and staff participated in Earth Hour from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00a.m. We closed our classroom lights, corridor lights, and any electronics, and opened our blinds to let the sunshine in. Earth Hour was a great success. Our Clean-Up Day on April 27th went well with students cleaning up our school grounds, All Saints Church’s green areas, and also our intermediate students travelled to La Rose Park and cleaned up that green area. We have also undertaken some new initiatives this year. Along with parent council support and our fundraising initiative we purchased two water filling stations that will help promote recyclable water bottles and limit our use of plastics. In addition, we are in the early stages of implementing strategies in limiting the use of paper in our school through the power of online learning. Finally, Ms. Poce’s grade one class and Ms. McDonald and Mr. Goles’ classes will be working to create an All Saints Community Garden. More information is coming. We look forward to maintaining our Platinum Eco-School status for 2018-2019 school year. Thank you All Saints students, parents, and staff for a wonderful year.
EQAO Testing
Our Grade 3 and 6 students participated in the Education Quality and Accountability Office’s (EQAO’s) Assessment of Reading, Writing and Mathematics from May 22nd to June 4th 2018. The assessment is administered province-wide and is developed by Ontario teachers and assessment experts to reflect curriculum expectations. We thank all of our Grade three and six teachers for their efforts in supporting our students during this testing period. CAT– 4 Testing Our Grades 2, 5 and 7 students participated in CAT- 4 testing from May 14th to May 18th 2018. The results of this testing will not be used for report card purposes. The data provides individual student, school and system indicators of academic performance which can help in the planning of a good teaching program for students by identifying areas of strength and weakness. Individual students’ and this school’s results will be available in the fall of the year 2018. We thank all of our grade two, five and seven teachers for their efforts in supporting our students during this testing period.
Student Award Assemblies
All Saints Catholic School will continue to hold our Student Awards Assemblies in the gym. Our assembly will recognize students who have demonstrated the Virtues of the Month (March– Forgiveness, April–Justice, May–Compassion, and June-Faithfulness) and students who display an active living and learning lifestyle by participating to the best of their ability in Daily Physical Activity. It will take place on Tuesday June 26th with the Grade 4-7 assembly beginning at 9:15 a.m. and including the Honour Roll and Grades 1-3 at 12:45 p.m. We will also continue to recognize one student per grade for the Virtue of the Month and the Ontario Catholic Graduate Expectations.

Rooted in Christ: we Belong, we Believe,

TCDSB Pastoral Plan 2018-2021 We thank the many students, staff, parishes, employee
federations, trustees and other Catholic leaders who
participated in last week’s launch of the Board’s new
pastoral plan. It was truly wonderful to celebrate this
launch during Catholic Education Week as we focused
on renewing the promise of Catholic education. We
were honoured to have His Eminence Cardinal Thomas
Collins as our keynote speaker to offer some insights
into the theme for our new plan-- “Rooted in Christ:
we Belong, we Believe, we Become”.
Inspired by St. Paul’s Letter to the Colossians (“Live
your lives in him, rooted and built up in him and
established in the faith…abounding in thanksgiving”),
our new pastoral plan strengthens our sense of
belonging to God and one another, expresses our belief
in God through our vision and mission, and works to
achieve our goals as people on a common mission.

Want to Help Others Become More
Engaged in Catholic Education? The Toronto Catholic Parent Involvement
Committee (CPIC) is a provincially mandated and
funded committee, which supports student achievement
through increased parent involvement. Members of
CPIC work locally within their own wards, and also
provide information and advice on parent engagement
to the school board. The committee strategizes and
plans initiatives and events that promote and facilitate
parent engagement, and helps parents to support their
children’s learning at home and/or at school. Toronto
CPIC members are volunteer parents/guardians, who
bring forward information and ideas from their own
wards, and relay important decisions and important
information from the central table back to parents in
their area.
If this sounds of interest, consider running for election
in the fall of 2018.
Please note election dates below:
Even Wards: 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12: 2 Parent
Representatives per Ward: October 2nd
Odd Wards: Ward 3 (2 Vacancies); Ward 5 (1

4 Parent-at-Large Representatives: Elections
on October 15th
Don’t have the time to serve on a committee? Consider
nominating someone for the committee, and remember
to come out and vote for your CPIC representative.

Loving God, Creator of all times and places, we thank you for the gift of summertime,
the days of light, warmth and leisure. Thank you for the beauty that surrounds us everywhere we look:
the multi-coloured flowers, the deep blue of the sky,
the tranquil surface of lakes, the laughter of children at play,
people strolling in the park, families gathered around picnic tables and
the increased time to spend with family and friends. As we open our eyes and ears to the landscape of nature and people,
open our hearts to receive all as gift. Give us that insight to see you as the Divine Artist.
Help us to realize and appreciate that you are labouring to keep all in existence.
And warm our souls with the awareness of your presence. Let all the gifts we enjoy this summer
deepen our awareness of your love so that we may share this with others and enjoy
a summertime of re-creation.
Amen
