Quentin Road Palatine, IL 60067 847-991-2080 www.allsaintspalane.org Advent Worship The season of Advent began on Sunday, November 27. This year, we will be having midweek worship (Holden Evening Prayer) at All Saints each week with a focus on World Hunger. All of your mid- week offerings will go to World Hunger. Join us Wednesdays, No- vember 30, December 7, December 14, and December 21 for sup- per at 6:15 and worship at 7. These will be great opportunities to integrate Bethel and All Saints members together. The service on December 21 will take a special Blue Christmasemphasis as we acknowledge together the ways in which the holiday season may not be cheery and bright for all of us. Love Came Down at Christmas The All Saints Cantata Choir has been rehearsing for many weeks and they are excited to present Joel Raneys cantata, Love Came Down at Christ- mas, on Sunday, December 11th. The inspiration for this cantata is Christina Rossettis poem, Love Came Down at Christmas. What a perfect phrase to describe the very essence of Christmas! First published in 1885, this remarkable lyric has survived the ages without being attached to a specific tune. In addi- tion to composing a new tune for Rossettis lyrics, Joel scatters lines of this classic poem throughout the work. Much of the material in this cantata is original, though you will find many familiar carols and Christmas favorites woven into its fabric as well. Come have your spirit lifted with this beautiful music. Bring your family and invite your friends and neighbors to join with us as we prepare again for the celebration of the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. Living Nativity This year All Saints will host a Living Nativity for the first time, in a tradi- tion brought from Bethel Lutheran Church. On Saturday, December 17 at both 4:00 and 5:00 come to hear the Christmas story told and watch it enacted with live animals, and then some fellowship of cookies and hot chocolate. Invite your friends for this wonderful experience! Sunday Morning Special Events During the season of Advent, there are many special events on Sunday mornings, in addition to the midweek activities. Make your plans to be here and to invite your friends. On Sunday, December 11 at both services, our choir and orchestra have prepared a seasonal cantata, Love Came Down at Christmasby Joel Raney. Sunday, December 18 at the 8:30 service our young people will present their take on the sto- ry through A Lambs Tale.Be sure to make both of these events a part of your tradition.

Love Came Down

at Christmas The All Saints Cantata Choir has been

rehearsing for many weeks and they are excited to present Joel Raney’s cantata, Love Came Down at Christ-

mas, on Sunday, December 11th.

The inspiration for this cantata is Christina Rossetti’s poem, Love Came Down at Christmas. What a perfect phrase to describe the very essence of Christmas! First published in 1885, this remarkable lyric has survived the ages without being attached to a specific tune. In addi-tion to composing a new tune for Rossetti’s lyrics, Joel scatters lines of this classic poem throughout the work. Come have your spirit lifted with this beautiful music. Bring your family and invite your friends and neighbors to join with us as we prepare again for the celebration of the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Living Nativity This year All Saints will host a Living Nativity for the first time, in a tradi-

tion brought from Bethel Lutheran Church. On Saturday, December 17 at both 4:00 and 5:00 come to hear the Christmas story told and watch it enacted with live animals, and then some fellowship of cookies and hot chocolate. Invite your friends for this wonderful experience!

Christmas Eve Worship Join us on Christmas

Eve (Saturday, Decem-ber 24) for worship. Our family service at 3 pm will feature stories and songs in ways that are appropriate for chil-dren of all ages. Then, we will have worship featuring candlelight singing of “Silent Night” and Holy Communion at 5 pm and 11 pm with pre-service music before all of the above. Come and invite your friends!

Worship after

Christmas On Sundays, December 25 and January 1 we

will have just one worship service at 10 am as we sing carols and continue to bask in the Christmas glow. Neither of these Sundays will have an Edu-cation Hour, but stick around after worship on January 1 to help with Christmas de-decorating.

The Annual Meeting for All Saints Lutheran Church will be held on Sunday, January 29 at 11 am. This worship service will also be our annual Youth Ser-vice. The schedule for the day will be: Education Hour at 9 am, Worship at 10 am, Annual Meeting at 11 am, with a luncheon to follow. Annual Report materials will be available online and in hard copy at church at least one week prior to the meeting.

For The Littlest Saints

All Saints has recently transi-tioned to a new faith resource called FROLIC for its youngest members. Frolic helps busy par-ents during their child's first three years by automatically delivering to their inbox a personalized e-newsletter about their child on the first of every month. The Frolic e-newsletters are packed with age-appropriate articles about the child's develop-ment and tips about early faith formation.

Parents of children age three and younger that have been baptized, if you haven’t sent your infor-mation to receive FROLIC e-mails, please send your child’s name and birthdate along with your name and preferred e-mail address to [email protected].
