WE WELCOME YOU TO

W e are delighted that you are here. Saint David’s is a Christian community that believes in the power of God to transform lives and change the world. We are open and welcoming

to all – race, age, gender, and sexual orientation are NOT barriers to inclusion. We are committed to building up the justice-filled world Jesus taught his disciples to hope and live for. We believe that the Holy Spirit calls us to care for one another, to pray, study, worship, and celebrate. Please, be sure to fill out a guest card located at the usher’s stand (where you were given a bulletin). We invite you to a time of hospitality after worship when we can enjoy getting acquainted!

CHILDREN IN WORSHIP Children bring much richness to the community gathered at worship. They bring new ways of seeing familiar rituals and often show an understanding of the mystery of the sacraments lost to many adults. Children also bring noise, awkward questions, loud toys, and confusion. Yet their presence is essential to the growth and vitality of the church. Here are some tips to help us worship together. The key word here is “participation.”

COME EARLY to get a good seat, preferably in front where children can see the liturgical action. Chil-dren (and adults!) are more likely to fidget if they can’t see what’s going on.

SHARE your service leaflet or prayer book with young readers, and help them follow along. Even the youngest like to ‘hold the book’ like mom and dad.

SPEAK to your children in a whisper close to the ear—modeling how they should respond in the same quiet way.

WE ALL KNOW KIDS who are gifted noise-makers without a single thing in their hands. However, for those who do bring playthings, make sure they’re quiet, soft toys.

SOMETIMES, despite our best efforts, children act up. Please feel free to take your child out of the ser-vice for a few moments—everybody has a bad day occasionally.

Nursery Care for infants is available. Please see an usher for more information.

Hearing Enhancement System Please see an usher to acquire one of our assisted listening devices to make our service as clear as possible.

The Celebrant continues...

The Lord be with you. And also with you. Let us pray...

THE COLLECT OF THE DAY

A lmighty God, you have knit together your elect in one communion and fellowship in the mystical body of your Son Christ our Lord: Give us grace so to follow your blessed saints in all virtuous and godly living, that we may come to

those ineffable joys that you have prepared for those who truly love you; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who with you and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns, one God, in glory everlasting. Amen.

SONG OF PRAISE IN PROCESSION 287 For all the saints

(Verses 5-8)

THE LESSON Revelation 21:1-6a

I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. And I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying,

"See, the home of God is among mortals. He will dwell with them as their God; they will be his peoples, and God himself will be with them; he will wipe every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more; mourning and crying and pain will be no more, for the first things have passed away."

And the one who was seated on the throne said, "See, I am making all things new." Also he said, "Write this, for these words are trustworthy and true." Then he said to me, "It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end."

Following the reading… Hear what the Spirit is saying to God’s people. Thanks be to God.

PSALM 24 (8:00 am) BCP 613

GRADUAL HYMN 238 (at 10:15) Blessed feasts of blessed martyrs The Choir will sing verse one by themselves with the drums. The People remain standing…

The Holy Gospel of our Savior Jesus Christ according to John. Glory to you, Lord Christ.

THE HOLY GOSPEL John 11:32-44

W hen Mary came where Jesus was and saw him, she knelt at his feet and said to him, "Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died." When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who came with her also weeping, he

was greatly disturbed in spirit and deeply moved. He said, "Where have you laid him?" They said to him, "Lord, come and see." Jesus began to weep. So the Jews said, "See how he loved him!" But some of them said, "Could not he who opened the eyes of the blind man have kept this man from dying?"

Then Jesus, again greatly disturbed, came to the tomb. It was a cave, and a stone was lying against it. Jesus said, "Take away the stone." Martha, the sister of the dead man, said to him, "Lord, already there is a stench because he has been dead four days." Jesus said to her, "Did I not tell you that if you believed, you would see the glory of God?" So they took away the stone. And Jesus looked upward and said, "Father, I thank you for having heard me. I knew that you always hear me, but I have said this for the sake of the crowd standing here, so that they may believe that you sent me." When he had said this, he cried with a loud voice, "Lazarus, come out!" The dead man came out, his hands and feet bound with strips of cloth, and his face wrapped in a cloth. Jesus said to them, "Unbind him, and let him go."

Following the Gospel…

The Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you, Lord Christ.

THE OFFERTORY

Gifts of canned goods, food staples, paper products and cleaning supplies may be placed in the large basket in front of the altar. This offering is delivered to the

St. Patrick’s Center Food Pantry to be distributed to those in need.

MUSICAL OFFERING When I can read my title clear

When I can read my title clear to mansions in the skies, I’ll bid farewell to every fear, and wipe my weeping eyes.

Should earth against my soul engage, and fiery darts be hurled, Then I can smile at Satan’s rage, and face a frowning world.

Let cares, like a wild deluge come, and storms of sorrow fall! May I but safely reach my home, my God, my heaven, my all.

We are so glad that you are here this day. You are invited to a time of hospitality today following worship in the Great Hall.

...begins this Wednesday! Sometimes Sunday worship isn’t enough to get you through the week and you find yourself needing a re-fresher. By the time Tuesday night rolls around you’ve had enough for a whole week -- but the weekend is nowhere in sight. At other times you can’t make it to liturgy on Sunday morning because schedules and calendars are over-booked...Wednesday arrives and you are sensing that your spirit needs to be recharged. And let’s not forget about the moments when you just want to be in the presence of God but home and/or office makes it nearly impossible to make the connection. That is where Wednesday night worship comes into play.

Each night will be an exploration of a focused topic (letting go, courage, refuge/refugee, praise/adoration, anxiety/fear, gratitude, envy, hope, frustration, trust, forgiveness, lust, etc.). Through readings, multi-media, music, song, and prayer participants will dip their spiritual toes into the waters of worship to find spiritual refreshment in the middle of the week.

Who: Anyone and everyone who needs a mid-week spiritual reconnect and recharge When: 6:30 – 7:00 pm Where: Saint David’s What to bring: An open mind and heart

Advent Wreath Making and Lasagna Dinner Sunday, November 29th

Make Advent Wreaths 5:00 pm Lasagna Dinner 6:00 pm

Be a part of either or both of these great community events to mark the beginning of Advent.

At 5 pm, we will gather in the Great Hall to design and construct your own unique Advent Wreaths to mark the days leading to Christmas. Using the Sign-up Genius link in the weekly E-pistle, let us know if you are bringing your circle/ring from last year or if you will need us to have one ready for you. The cost for this event is $5 to defray cost of materials: greens, candles, ribbons, etc.

Then, at 6 pm, we will display our wreaths and sit down to enjoy a satisfying meal. Folks who want only to share supper may do that, as well! We are looking for someone with the gift of hos-pitality to coordinate the dinner part. If you are willing and able to organize the details for this dinner, let Kathy Hanna know. The Sign-Up Genius link will also give everyone an opportunity to select what they would like to bring for supper. Please be sure to bring enough food to share with 8 to 10 people. The categories are:

1) Lasagna 2)Salad 3)Bread 4)Brownies (6-8 needed) (4-6 needed) (5-7 needed) (3-4 needed)
