May all your troubles last as long as your New Year's resolutions.

The precious gifts which the Magi  brought to the Lord this day are threefold, and they are signs of divine mysteries. By gold the power of the King is signified, by frankincense His great priesthood, by myrrh the burial of the Lord.

The Magi worshipped the Author of our salvation in the crib, and of their treasures they brought to Him gifts of mystic nature.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost.  As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end.

Amen.

of our Lord Jesus Christ (Sunday Readings: of year A : Breviary: Week ii)

THIS SUNDAY’S MASSScripture Isaiah 60: 1-6.

Psalm 71

R : All nations shall fall prostrate before you, O Lord

O God, give your judgement to the king,.to a kings son your justice, that he may judge your people in justiceAnd your poor in right justice.

In his days justice shall flourishand peace till the moon fails. He shall rule from sea to sea, from the great river to the earths bounds.

The Kings of Tarshish and the sea coasts/ shall pay him tribute. The Kings of Sheba and Seba /

shall bring him gifts. Before him all kings shall fall prostrateall nations shall serve him.

For he shall save the poor when they cryand the needy who are helpless. He will have pity on the weakand save the lives of the poor.

Ephesians 3: 2 – 3a. 5 - 6 Matthew 2: 1 – 12.

Intercession : Lord hear us.Response : Lord, graciously hear us

‘Hey Mum,’ asked Johnny, ‘can you give me £10.00.‘Certainly not!’ answered his mother.‘If you do,’ persisted Johnny, ‘I’ll tell you what Dad said to the maid while you were at the hairdresser’s.His mother was intrigued and, grabbing her purse, handed over the money. ‘Well? What did he say?’‘He said, “Carla, make sure you wash my socks tomorrow”

^^^^^^^^^^^^^

While a small boy was practising the violin in the living room, his father was desperately trying to read the paper. But as the boy scraped away tunelessly at the instrument, the family dog howled incessantly. Finally the father lost patience and said to the boy: ‘Can’t you play something the dog doesn’t know?’

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

A priest and pastor from the local parishes were standing by the side of the road holding up a sign that read: ‘The End is Near! Turn Yourself Around Now Before It’s Too Late!’ They planned to hold up the sign to each passing car.‘Leave us alone, yelled the first driver as he sped by. From around the corner they then heard screeching tyres and a big splash.‘Do you think,’ said the priest to the pastor, ‘that maybe we should change the wording on our sign to “Bridge Out”?’

In the coming year may each one of us know

peace of mind and heart, peace of body and spirit, peace of community and world.

Amen.

I was regretting the pastAnd fearing the future.

Suddenly my Lord was speaking:‘My name is I Am.’ He paused.

I invited. He continued.

‘When you live in the past, with its mistakes and regrets,

it is hard, I am not there. My name is not I Was.

When you live in the future,With its problems and fears,

It is hard, I am not there. My name is not I will be.

When you live in this moment,It is not hard. I am here.

My name is I AM.’(Helen Mallicoat.)

“The best thing about the future is that it only comes one day at a time.”

We thank God.

goat.5. You know, I used to go to school with a girl named

Beth Lehem.4. What kind of name is Balthazar anyhow? Phoenician?3. Hey, do either of you know why “MYRRH” is spelled

with a “Y” instead of a “U”?2. Okay, whose camel just spat?

And the NUMBER ONE thing overheard…

1. All this staring at a star while riding a camel is making me woozy.

Thank you very much for your Poinsettias.  Pease take them home after Mass to day for next year! In some cases it may be just the pot.  Thank you to everyone who came to celebrated with us and to all who helped in anyway.  It was a lovely celebration.

Compliments of the Season to all who purchased tickets for Geraldine’s Christmas Cake. We raised £125 towards our sacristy’s cost. The winner Mrs. Tracey Bantham, Monmouth with yellow ticket 926-930The Community Committee is due to meet on Thursday 12th at 6:30 pm.

The Piety Stall has still a good supply of cards for many occasions.  Please pay it a visit before or after Mass.

HCPT Group 99 is once again indebted to David Page for his very generous donation in support of our work. David has been raising funds for over 65 years & has a phenomenal track record, generating many thousands of pounds for good causes within the parish & for other deserving charities. Thanks to David’s fundraising over 12 children have been able to travel to Lourdes over the last few years and each one of them will have returned having shared a wonderful & we hope, life changing experience. From all the helpers & of course the children, Thank you David for your kindness, generosity & commitment.

We would like to wish everyone in All Saints Parish a happy and healthy New Year.

Bettws Food Bank send their thanks for your support, especially coming up to the Christmas holiday time.  Your generous donations of food, toiletries and financial support have meant that not only have families had basic food, they have also been able to have some extras for the festive season. Many thanks.

The next Community Meeting will be 18th January at 7.00 pm. This month we are specially thinking about the people who are on the committees of the churches of All Saints.  They work hard to ensure that our churches run the best way possible, which takes up a lot of time.  Thank you Folks.

DRIVERS REQUIREDI can see a problem looming on the horizon as we approach Christmas, that is Fathers’ John and Joseph not being able to attend the Community Churches as neither of them drive and need lifts.

We need a number of people from each community to volunteer and set up a rota. Please DO NOT LEAVE it each week to the same few people who have been helping so far.

No lifts sadly means NO MASS!

Please ring the Parish Office or speak to your Community Chairperson if you can perform this essential ministry.
