Brett’s advanced understanding of various leadership theories along with his various professional experiences within higher education make him an ideal candidate for the M.Ed in Higher Education degree. As a professional and a friend, Brett strives to encourage and support everyone around him. He creates a welcoming atmosphere for personal growth and development for both friends and students alike. Not only does Brett understand the importance of various student development and leadership theories, but he is also able to integrate that knowledge into his every day work in the Gender and Sexuality Resource Center at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. I had first gotten the opportunity to know Brett during our second semester of our first year in the program together. We both had enrolled in a student development theory course that challenged each of us throughout the semester. My growth through this course can largely be attributed to Brett’s constant support, encouragement and vulnerability to express solidarity with me. No matter what assignment, reading, or “developmental” experience we went through that semester, I knew that I could count on Brett to not only encourage me to do well in the course but also push me to do my best. I also have the opportunity to serve on the Higher Education Student Association executive board with Brett. As a co-chair for the Professional Development committee, Brett has taken creative steps toward designing engaging programming that will benefit all students in the higher education program. His encouragement and support of the Events Committee and willingness to help host various events speaks to how adaptable and incredibly faithful Brett is to provide an environment that supports community and personal development. Brett’s unwavering commitment to excellence extends outside of the classroom as well. As a practitioner, Brett is dedicated wholeheartedly to his students. Despite the various supervisors and consistent change within his graduate assistant position, Brett has remained dedicated to what is best for his students. As a professional, Brett has exemplified what it truly means to be a student-centered practitioner. As a peer, Brett has demonstrated how to consistently encourage and constructively challenge someone to help them grow and develop personally. As a friend, Brett has shown me how important it is to ground everything I do in love and care. For these reasons, I highly recommend Brett Stachler to the filed of Higher Education. Sincerely, Allison Schipma M.Ed Candidate, Higher Education, Loyola University Chicago

I am writing this letter of recommendation to the field for Brett Stachler, a friend and fellow colleague in the Loyola University Chicago Masters of Higher Education program. Bretts advanced understanding of various leadership theories along with his various professional experiences within higher education make him an ideal candidate for the M.Ed in Higher Education degree.

I had first gotten the opportunity to know Brett during our second semester of our first

year in the program together. We both had enrolled in a student development theory course that challenged each of us throughout the semester. My growth through this course can largely be attributed to Bretts constant support, encouragement and vulnerability to express solidarity with me. No matter what assignment, reading, or developmental experience we went through that semester, I knew that I could count on Brett to not only encourage me to do well in the course but also push me to do my best.

Bretts unwavering commitment to excellence extends outside of the classroom as well.
