Dear All, I am not sure if you share my opinion, but
time is passing by very quickly, quarter 1 of
2016 is about done and spring is almost here.
Several chapters held their elections for 2016
and I would like to congratulate each
incoming Executive Board and thank the
outgoing boards for their support and
commitment.
Please mark your calendars, the time and
place for the 2016 National Conference is now
fixed, the conference is scheduled for Friday
11/11/16 thru Saturday 11/12/16 and the
place is the Tropicana Hotel in Las Vegas
Nevada. It’s been customary over the past few
years to hold the national conference at one
of the chapters but this year we opted to try
something different basically building up
experience hosting larger a conference as we
evaluate what it takes to host an international
conference
I look forward to seeing delegates and
observers from ALL Chapters.
I want to thank all the committee chairs for
their work during Q1 putting their committees
together, this was not an easy task, and I
encourage all chapters to GET INVOLVED, the
National AAAEA does not have direct
members, these committees are intended to
provide a forum for exchange of best practice
and ideas within the chapters for the benefit
of all, again, I encourage you to be
represented
on every
committee, it
is never too
late to join.
Two
committees I
would like to
mention this month:
Publication, I encourage the chapters to
send in material to be posted in
AlMuhandes, events, activities,
including pictures, this publications
literally reaches thousands of
subscribers
Membership, soon the committee will
start updating the membership list,
please provide them with all the
assistance possible, this is very
important so we can make sure the
new members are receiving the
benefits they are entitled to,
subscription to the AlMuhandes,
notifications of job opportunities,
etc..

Interview of the Month– Ray Milhem
1-Please introduce yourself.
My name is Ray (Raed) Milhem. I'm currently VP of Enterprise Solutions & Cloud & ANSYS. I have over 33 + years . I worked @ Cisco, Nokia, Boeing, Motorola at various Business & Technical Executive positions.
I was also a co-founder of TechWadi http://techwadi.org/ which is an Arab American Hi-Tech Organization and joined hands several times with AAAEA.
2-How long have you been connected with AAAEA and what positions have you served?
I have been a proud member of AAAEA since 2006 and served on the Board of Trustees. I have alot of respect for the founding team, the current team and all the great members.
3-Your decision to honor the memory of your father Mohammad Ayyash Milhem vis establishing a scholarship in his name via the National Arab American Association is a reflection of the trust in AAAEA and support, why AAAEA?
Yes, I wanted to honor my late Father (may God bless his soul) and offer a scholarship in his name. I found that AAAEA is one of the best and most professional Arab American organizations in the US. I also wanted to honor my Father's legacy by supporting this AAAEA scholarship and helping a student who he/she will grow up and become a great member of society and hopefully he/she will also help others and continue the journey.
4-The late Mohammad Ayyash Milhem was a civic minded leader. Can you share with us how he served the community in his life and his commitment to human rights?
My late father was the first Arab from Hebron-Palestine to receive a scholarship from the British Government when they were occupying Palestine in 1946. He came from humble/simple beginnings in a town outside Hebron called Halhoul (now a thriving city in Palestine). My father got his Masters degree as a Lawyer (with Honors) from the University of Leeds and went back to Palestine in 1950 to serve his people.
He established the Municipality in Halhoul and was very active in Palestine & Jordan. He helped create the Jordanian Lawyers Union where he was the first registered Lawyer. He was very proud of being an Arab & a human being and he used his education to help his family, friends and thousands of people in the region and the world.

Interview of the Month– Continued He wrote several books about his life and experience when he led an oil strike in Saudi Arabia in 1955 to help improve the livelihood of Thousands of Saudi workers who were discriminated against. After the strike (the one & only in the Kingdom's history) thousands of workers had better homes, better drinking water, access to medical help and many other benefits .
He was one of the founders of the "Welfare Association" http://www.welfareassociation.org/ to help our people in Palestine, and dedicated a yearly contribution -in his will- for the Welfare Association .
I'm very proud of what my father accomplished in his life and wanted to follow his foot steps to help others.
5-Would you encourage other philanthropist to establish and contribute to AAAEA national scholarship fund?
Absolutely. It is a moral & professional duty to help others all the time and not be selfish & self-centric. It is also a great way to "plant the seeds" of goodness by helping to educate others.

Do you need to evaluate your degree? Why? How much does it cost?
http://ncees.org/credentials-evaluations/
What is the NCEES Engineering Education Standard that is used to evaluate your
credential?
http://ncees.org/credentials-evaluations/ncees-engineering-education-standard/
Step by step instructions for the process:
http://ncees.org/credentials-evaluations/the-evaluation-process/
I got my degree evaluated. Now what?
It is important to note that NCEES does not make decisions regarding licensure. The appropriate licensing
board will make any decision regarding your eligibility to sit for a licensing exam.
You can send your evaluation results to a licensing board of a specific state (or more) in order to proceed
with the application for sitting for an exam, such as FE or PE. Not every state requires a degree evaluation
PRIOR to taking the exam, (i.e. you can sit for the exam before the degree evaluation), but they might/will
require it to issue the license, along with other requirements for each license (EIT, PE).
How can I contact the licensing board in my state?
http://ncees.org/licensing-boards/
Notes:
The requirements from a state to another are different. Some states are not as stringent as other,
particularly in deciding when you can sit for an exam.
The NCEES evaluation might state that you have a deficit in the credit hours in a certain area
(Mathematics, Humanitarian, Science,… etc.), but the licensing board of your state might decide
that the deficit is more, according to the state’s rules and regulations of licensure. For example, the
professional engineering rules and regulations for the state of Illinois can be found at this link:
http://www.idfpr.com/profs/ProfEngineer.asp

Dome of the Rock
A masterpiece of Islamic architecture, the Dome of the Rock is a 7th century building, located in Jerusalem. Built by Caliph Abd al-Malik between 687 and 691, the octagonal plan and the rotunda dome of wood are of Byzantine design. The Persian tiles on the exterior and the marble slabs that decorate the interior were added by Suleiman I
in 1561.
The oldest extant Islamic monument, the Dome of the Rock has served as a model for architecture and other artis-tic endeavors for over a millennium.
