Aloha Basketball: “We Do It Our Way”
Culture of Aloha Hoops
As with any successful company or sports team, people will quickly discover a specific
cultures that permeates throughout itself. As a basketball coaching staff at Aloha High School, we
desire for every student-athlete on our teams to know what our culture is and how it drives our
daily decisions and attitudes. Our culture defines us and makes us who we are. Our culture is our
foundation and we refer to it as “we do it our way, “meaning we are focused solely on what Aloha
Basketball emphasizes. We, Aloha Basketball, are attending every class, listening and being
respectful to all, being honest to all, being a servant leader in our community, speaking to
individuals clearly and directly and always looking people in the eyes. On the basketball court,
Aloha Basketball is a tough and intelligent program who walls up on defense, blocks out on the
rebounds, protects and chins the basketball, sprints through our offensive and defensive cuts, takes
high percentage shots, rotates to the extra man, and always protects our brother next to us. The
question the Aloha Boys Basketball program must answer every day is, Are we doing all of the
little things necessary to make Aloha Boys Basketball better each day on the court and in the
community? We will ignore what the other teams says and does, we will do what we do best and
be successful.
Vision of Aloha Hoops
The coaching staff of Aloha Basketball envision a culture where student-athletes are proud
of Aloha High School and have consistently positive personal, social, academic and civic values
which foster academic and athletic success. We will create lasting beliefs and values for our
student-athletes which they can utilize throughout their lives and careers.
Aloha Basketball: “We Do It Our Way”
Core Values of Aloha Hoops
The Aloha Boys Basketball program believe the promotion, integration and enhancement
of student-learning and personal development includes the development of intellectual, emotional,
social, physical and ethical capacities of the entire student-athlete.
The Aloha Boys Basketball program will emphasize the five core values in each team
practice, event, and game. These core values are instrumental for lifelong success and helping our
student-athletes become the servant leaders our community requires moving into the years to
come. We believe our message is greater than the game of basketball. We must prepare our student-
athletes for the world outside of education and basketball, the real world. Anything that can be
done to improve the character and overall well-being of our student-athletes will increase our
chances for success on the court, in the classroom, and in the community. The Aloha Boys
Basketball’s core values are:
- Family - Toughness
- Commitment - Communication
- Unselfishness
