Light is life, and good lighting is a necessity. We need it to reveal and illuminate every moment of our present. For Luceplan, it is the result of a combination of factors: experience, research, innovation. The sum of this process is called industrial design. If we decide to line up the concepts of pres-ent, light and design and apply them as a filter of interpretation of this corporate catalogue, we will not be stretching to make a point, not indulging in nostalgia or rhetoric. Luceplan is experiencing the natural evolution of a lighting company that has its roots in the typical family

business approach of Italian design. Today, however, the company is able to approach things on a large industrial scale, and to come to terms with international hori-zons. The objective of Luceplan is to create an industrial culture of light. This aspect is urgent for a company that invests in research and takes risks, developing projects that do not follow fashions but pursue an idea of rationality applied to space and people. Without calling on litera-ture or philosophy, we can say that for Luceplan the industrial culture of light is an objective relationship between the light source and the subject, a dedicated system that tends to proceed from the particu-lar to the universal.

What remains of that worldview is the industrious effort of a team of professionals, and the intuition of think-ing about light in all its applications: domestic interiors and contract, decor and architecture. Now that the transfor-mation into the digital age has been completed, foreshadowing the con-tamination with digital thinking in the future, for Luceplan the design of light has become a dialogue with a genera-tion of international creative talents who understand the know-how of Italian design, while completing it with a vertical technical approach, coming to grips with fluid aesthet-ic-formal dimensions.

It is around these thoughts that the present of the company reaches towards the future. It is here that the legitimate, private, independent and entrepreneurial destiny of Luceplan meets with the personal and com-munitarian identity of the client. It is here that the unfathomable difference between a factory and a design company, a good and a product, a technology and an innovation, tends to nestle. In Luceplan the gap between these polarities is bridged by the rationality of forecast-ing, the study of behav-iors, respect for emotions, possession of a vision that ranges across time. Luceplan has under-stood that the sculptural allure of contemporary forms is generated by the urgency of a behavior. The first element, without the depth of the second, is a mere stylistic exer-cise. The rhythm of the present reminds us that we can no longer afford such an attitude. The deadline of the future demands this awareness. La luce è vita e la buona luce è una necessità. È ciò di cui abbiamo bisogno per accendere e illuminare ogni momento del nostro presente. Per Luceplan è il risultato di una combinazione di fattori: esperienza, ricerca, innovazione. La sintesi di questo processo si chiama industrial design. Se si allineano i concetti di presente, di luce e di design e li eleggiamo a filtro interpretativo di questo catalogo aziendale non ci troviamo nella condizione di commettere una forzatura né di indulgere nella nostalgia o nella retorica. Luceplan vive la naturale evoluzione di un’azienda di illuminazione che ha radici nel capitalismo di impronta familiare del design italiano. Oggi è invece capace di affrontare una scala industriale significativa e cavalcare con consapevolezza un orizzonte internazionale. Luceplan ha come obiettivo quello di creare una cultura industriale della luce. Questo aspetto è un’urgenza per l’azienda che investe in ricerca e rischia abbracciando progetti che non inseguono mode ma perseguono un’idea di razionalità applicata allo spazio e alla persona. Senza scomodare la letteratura o la filosofia, la cultura industriale della luce per Luceplan è una relazione oggettiva tra la fonte luminosa e il soggetto, è un sistema dedicato che tende a proporre un particolare per l’universale. È intorno a questa riflessione che il presente dell’azienda si getta verso il futuro. È qui che il legittimo destino privato, autonomo e imprenditoriale di Luceplan si fonde con quello comunitario, identitario e intimo del cliente. È qui che si annida l’inarrivabile differenza tra una fabbrica e un’azienda di design, tra una merce e un prodotto, tra una tecnologia e un’innovazione. In Luceplan la distanza di queste polarità è colmata dalla razionalità della previsione, dallo studio dei comportamenti, dal rispetto per l’emozione, dal possesso di una visione dello spazio nel tempo. L’azienda ha sede a Milano. Dal 1978, anno della fondazione, risente della cultura che questo epicentro mondiale del design emana. Di quella visione del mondo rimane la laboriosità di una squadra di professionisti e l’intuizione di pensare la luce in tutte le sue dimensioni applicative: gli interni domestici e il contract, l’arredo e l’architettura. Ora che si è compiuta la trasformazione dell’era digitale e in divenire si plasma la contami-nazione con il pensiero digitale, progettare la luce è diventato per Luceplan un dialogo con una generazione di progettisti internazionali che conoscono il saper fare del design italiano, lo completano con un approccio tecnico verticale e si confron-tano con dimensioni estetico-formali fluide. Luceplan ha intuito che la plasticità delle forme contempora-nee è generata dall’urgenza di un comportamento. Il primo elemento senza la profondità del secondo è un esercizio di stile. Il ritmo del presente ci ricorda che non possiamo più permetterci questo atteggiamento. La scadenza del futuro ce lo impone. Luceplan lo ha capito scegliendo la qualità come unica decora-zione, l’innovazione come risposta, il design come segno distintivo. Il design non è civismo, ma un LED integrato in una lampada disegnata contribuisce a razionalizzare il bisogno di luce di una persona. Luceplan vuole contribuire alla quotidiana qualità di chi la sceglie in modo essenziale ed efficace con una gamma di apparecchi unici e dagli alti standard prestazionali.
