Alpine Analytical, Laboratory is an independent analytical laboratory located in beautiful Helena, MT.

Founded in 1994 and continually growing and updating our facilities, instrumentation and procedures

to stay in tune with the latest regulations and technologies. Through this growth we have remained committed

to providing documented high quality analytical data with rapid turnaround while maintaining personalized customer

service.

We are open to receive samples 8 am through 5 pm Monday through Friday, except holidays. If necessary other times

can be arranged by appointment.

Alpine Analytical Laboratory has a comprehensive, written QA/QC program designed to insure consistent

high quality analytical data that meets or exceeds criteria established by the USEPA and state agencies. Quality

control samples consisting of blanks, duplicates, spikes, and known samples, as applicable, are analyzed as an

integral part of every analysis batch. Results of these analyses are routinely reported at no additional cost

as part of our comprehensive data package. Our goal is to provide data that is technically sound and legally defensable.

Excellent customer service consists not only of generating quality data suitable for the customers need but also

providing the data to the customer as close as possible to when the customer would like the results, if not before.

Turnaround time can be very critical. Rapid turnaround of sample results can save you time and money. In some

instances it can even help to minimize your liability. We routinely report results within one week of sample receipt

by our laboratory. When you have a problem and need results right away, we understand. We can provide rush

analyses for most parameters in a matter of hours at an additional cost.

Upon receipt of a sample we will commit in writing to an analysis completion date and time upon request..

We have designed our reports to be complete and easily understood. Each report includes date of analysis

and reference to method used. Batch specific quality control data is generated for every sample and can be included

in reports at no additional charge. The report can be custom designed to meet your specific needs, both in

hard copy and electronic format.

Results of analyses performed are confidential information and will be provided only to you and anyone else

whom you have approved.

Alpine Analytical Laboratory provides at no charge to its customers, properly prepared sample containers,

preservatives and chain of custody forms. We will also provide sampling instructions upon request, or assist you in

locating someone to collect your samples.

Please see the miscellaneous section of this Price List and Reference guide for recommended containers,

preservatives, and holding times.

Samples will be held for at least 30 days after the report is generated. Longer archiving can be arranged if necessary.

Samples that are not-hazardous will be disposed at no cost. Disposal of samples determined to be hazardous will

be the responsibility of the person or organization submitting the sample.

We require chain of custody forms for all samples submitted for analysis. It provides evidence of sample handling,

which is important in cases involving litigation. It also expedites the measurement process and adds confidence

to the results.

Analytical data, to be valuable, must accurately describe the characteristics and/or concentrations of the

constituents of the material being sampled and be appropriate for its intended purpose. If requested our qualified

staff can assist you in selecting the proper sampling, preservation and analysis methods to meet this purpose.

Use of the proper methods and appropriate holding times is vitally important to obtaining useful analytical data.

Alpine Analytical Laboratory uses methodology accepted and set forth by US EPA,

American Public Health Association (APHA), the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), the

Association of Official Analytical Chemists (AOAC), the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH),

the Soil Science Society of America (SSSA), and various other state and federal agencies.

The prices listed on the following pages are for single parameter analysis in small quantities. Suite prices

and volume discounts are available. The methods and detection limits listed are those routinely used by our

laboratory. Many additional parameters, methods, and detection limits are available. We will, upon request,

provide a price quotation based upon your analytical needs.

In the event that you need results right away, we can perform most analyses within a matter of minutes or hours.

The cost for this service is usually double the normal cost, but depends upon the situation. Samples that are

submitted such that we need to work weekends or holidays are also charged a rush charge.

Our normal terms are net 30 days. After 30 days, interest charges may be added.

VPH is a method employed to separate the aliphatic and aromatic fractions in the sample. Through the use of two different detectors on the gas

chromatograph it is possible to separate the sample into aliphatic and aromatic fractions. The specificity of the photoionization detector allows the

aromatics to be measured separately from the aliphatics. Whereas the flame ionization detector responds to both aromatics and aliphatics, but

cannot distinguish between them. The presence of MTBE and/or Naphthalene are confirmed by GC-MS.

The parameters measured by the VPH method and the associated reporting limits are listed below.

A screening limit of 200 mg/g for soil and 1000 mg/L for water has been established by MTDEQ. Samples with TEH (Total Extractable Hydrocarbons)

concentrations do not need further analysis unless specifically requested by MTDEQ. For soil samples exceeding the screening limits,

the separation into aliphatic and aromatic fractions plus MBTEXN analysis is required (in most cases). The need for PAH analysis is determined

on a case by case basis by MTDEQ, as is the need for aromatic/aliphatic separation on water samples. The table below lists the parameters

measured plus their reporting limits.
