1 Overview
1.1 Presentation
The logical configuration can be activated completely independently from thephysical connection of the BTS. Creating adjacencies and call tests must bedone after the BTS is functional and connected to the network.
Co-ordination is needed between the BTS and OMC-R sites to define the initialsettings. The Qmux address must always be set. For 9100/9110 Micro BTSs,the transmission mode is configured via OML.
G2 BTSs are supported by 9130 BSC Evolution only if they have a DRFU board.
G1 MKII BTSs and G2 BTSs are supported by 9120 BSC only if they have aDRFU board.
In order to create the required configuration, it is possible to add more than onenew BTS and more than one cell. In this case, modify all the logical parametersat the same time in the same PRC.
Manual Transmission Programming is recommended for multiple Abisoperations on 9120 BSC.
According to engineering rules:
It is not allowed to have a cross-connect on the secondary Abis
It is not allowed to attach a secondary Abis to a BTS that is in an Abis ring
It is not allowed to use a mixed configuration for the primary and secondary
Abis (terrestrial/satellite).
1.1.1 Cases
The following cases apply:
C1: BTS is installed on a new Abis link
C2: BTS is installed on an existing Abis link with downstream BTSs
C3: BTS is installed at the end of a non empty Abis chain (no downstream
BTSs)
C4: BTS has two Abis links.
1.1.2 Options
The method takes into account the following options:
O1: Configuring GPRS for the cells
O2: Abis connection via satellite
O3: Create cell(s) shared (applicable only to 9100 BTSs)
O4: Define BTS Extra Abis Timeslots
O5: Manual Transmission Programming
O6: Automatic Transmission Programming.

1 Overview
1.2 Preparation
1.2.1 Prerequisites
The following prerequisites apply:
BTS sites are clean, tidy, and easily reachable
The primary or/and secondary Abis links are installed and qualified
The BTS(s) is installed and commissioned
For C2, the jumper linking the upstream and downstream BTSs is installed.
This jumper is removed during the scenario.
For C4:
The added BTS must be an 9100 BTS equipped with a SUMA board or
an 9110-E Micro BTS equipped with a MSUMA board
If the primary Abis link is on satellite, the secondary Abis link mustalso be on satellite
The added BTS must be alone on a primary Abis, in the end of chain
position
The added BTS must not have any G3 TRE or 9110 Micro BTS on
second Abis
The BTS must not contain any G3 TREs for a configuration with more
than 12 TREs.
For O3, clock synchronization cable(s) must already be installed between
BTSs involved in shared cells
For O3, in a cell shared over two BTSs, only one sector (main or secondary)
must support GPRS traffic (not both)
BTS(s) must be configured with the correct initial settings
There are adequate resources to handle the new traffic channels and LAPD
All BTS software packages and OMU-CPF are loaded in the BSC memory.

1 Overview
1.2.2 Site Specific Information
You must have the following specific information to complete the scenario:
Identity of cases and options to perform
BTS site topology
For C1: the characteristics of the Abis (name, Qmux timeslot if BTS(s) to
add is G1/G2 BTS)
For C4: the name of the primary and secondary Abis link,
MAX_EXTRA_TS_PRIMARY
Characteristics of the BTS(s) (family, hardware generation, name, Qmux
address, number of sectors, type of transmission, antenna diversity, master
or slave, Qmux timeslot for G1/G2 BTS)
List of cells to create with parameter values (LAC, CI, frequency, timeslot
definition). The list must be exhaustive.
List of cells supporting GPRS and parameter values (Routing Area Code for
GPRS, Routing Area Color for GPRS, Min_Pdch, Max_Pdch_High_Load,
Max_Pdch, EN_EGPRS, Max_GPRS_CS, PS_PREF_BCCH_TRX,
TRX_Pref_Mark, MAX_ENGPRS_MCS)
List of adjacencies with parameters (list of impacted cells, direction of
the handover).
1.2.3 External Tasks
You must take the following external tasks into account:
All cells are declared at the MSC site
The MSC personnel must perform an MSC database update to take into
account the parameters for the new BTS
For O2, check and update, if needed, the CRC4 for the Abis at the BSC site
Update adjacencies on neighboring OMC-Rs, if necessary.
