ABL Course Occupational Safety and Legal Studies for Engineers:
‘Occupational Safety and Legal Studies for Engineers’ is introduced in semester IV for all branches to create awareness of law and legal procedures & documents. Various events are conducted as a part of this activity. Advocate Nasir Ghatte practicing lawyer of more than 35 years of experience at Bombay High Court was invited to give lecture on legal documents like agreement, sales deed, MoU, declaration gift deed etc. Prof. Sana Khan and Prof. Suman Kalani from Pravin Gandhi Law College took lectures on „Contract Drafting‟. On 11th April 2018 entire engineering college environment was simulated to law college. Every single student was excited to be the part of this event which had four activities namely: Moot Court Competition, Client Counseling, Negotiation Competition, Indian Judiciary System Competition. Institute has procured ‘Manupatra’ licenses for helping students to get legal database. Assessment in the form of quiz has also been taken. Success of every event depends on the participants and for this event around 304 second year students participated. Moot Court Competition created an awareness among students about legal system in India with up gradation to students documentation skill. During this competition students have given written as well as oral submission. Because of this competition, fear of legal system was removed and this will help them to overcome challenges in their lives. The event was judged by Ms. Urvashi Shah &Ms. Pavana Pamadkumar from SKVM's Pravin Gandhi College of Law. Client Counseling was to promote greater knowledge and interest among students in the counselling functions and to encourage students to develop interviewing planning and analytical skills in the lawyer-client relationship in the office. The event was judged byMs. Mitali Shahane &Ms. Kanika Khanna from SKVM's Pravin Gandhi College of Law. Negotiation Competition provided a means for engineering students to practice and improve their negotiation skills. The event was judged by Ms. Nausha Naik &Mr. Shardool Kulkarni from SKVM's Pravin Gandhi College of Law. In Indian Judiciary System Competition, participants were expected to do literature survey of various legal documents and prepare a power-point presentation e.g. cyber and information technology act, right to information act, protection of human rights act, etc. One of the purpose of this competition was to make students aware of legal help in case of discrimination. The event was judged byMrs. Y. Aruna, Ms. Radhika Sarpotdar &Ms. Amruta Ponkshe from SKVM's Pravin Gandhi College of Law. During this event a Mumbai Police Organized Security awareness program called Jagrut Mumbaikar Campaign. D. N. Nagar Police Station officers PSI Vinerkar, Mr. R. K. Shinde, Ms. Unnati Thakar and Mr. Santosh Kalaphad took session to make students aware about security concerns in daily life activities.

As a student of Electronics engineering department at SPIT, I have always had many opportunities to grow as well as
prove myself. The concepts taught by the professors helped me build a strong technical base in my field. They have
always taught me to have a practical approach towards the theory that we studied. My inclination towards working
harder in the field of electronics increased during the course of 4 years of engineering at S.P.I.T, because of the
curricular and co-curricular activities held within the department. The competitions like troubleshooting and Mini
project at departmental level boosted my practical knowledge even further. As a part of ESA committee, I had the
opportunity of becoming the Editor of the departmental magazine, ESPARK(2016-17). Summing up, all these proved to
be of great help to me during my placement rounds of L & T Technology Services Ltd. company.

When I reflect on my four years in the Electronics Department of S.P.I.T, I conclude that the experience not only made
me a good engineer, but also prepared me in unpredictable ways for my career. The department has very experienced
and supportive faculties who are always there to help. Here I got a platform to nurture my talent by working on
different projects and participating in various competitions outside the curriculum. Apart from curricular activities,
encouragement for participating in college festivals, and participating in various sports events inculcated time
management and leadership qualities in me and helped in an all-round development. The different opportunities i.e.
Projects, Seminars, Workshops, Events have played a crucial role inpreparing me to face the corporate world. It was a
wonderful time in my life, and the best experience I’ve had.

It wasgreat experience studying in Electronics Department; S.P.I.T. Professors motivated studentsin pushing
theirlimits which helped us develop professionally, academically and socially. Also the department provides students
with advanced technology to work on which really helps in projects and getting experience on cutting edge softwares.
Activities like Robocon gave me platform to apply my theoretical knowledge practically. These extra and co-curricular
activities taught skills like time management, team work and financial management. Department also allowed me to
explore fields like Artificial Intelligence and Image processing along with core electronics which proved beneficial for me
in campus placements.
