What is The BIG Give?
This is a campaign to build awareness about volunteerism and service to others. We are challenging
students, faculty, and staff to find new ways to pay it forward. From Tuesday, October 4, 2016
through Sunday, April 30, 2017 Alverno invites you to participate in The BIG Give.
Why start on October 4?
This is the day of the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi. Alverno was founded by the School
Sisters of St. Francis, and as a Franciscan college we have a long history of service to others.
Why end on April 30?

anniversary of Alverno College, and the last weekend in April
is the inauguration weekend for Alverno’s 8th president, Sister Andrea Lee. Let’s celebrate
Alverno’s 130th birthday by celebrating our commitment to service and effective citizenship!
How do you participate?
Alverno has been “paying it forward” and educating students for 130 years, so we’re providing 130
ways for the community to honor this legacy and “pay it forward” as well. Pick up the list in Student
Activities & Leadership (FO 110) today!
