One day Li'le Red Hen found a few li'le grain seeds. She decided to plant them. Li'le Red Hen said to herself, “I will plant them”. She said to her friends , the prideful cat, the stubborn dog , the impaGent pig , and the loud mouth duck, “Who will help me plant this these seeds?” “Not I!” the cat exclaimed in a
snobby voice. “ It would muss my fur.” “Not I”, barked the dog . I’m, uh um, busy. Yeah. Busy. “Not I ,”squealed the pig. “PlanGng takes too long”. “Not I,” the duck loudly quacked. “I’m scheduled to, uh, sing at a ,um, wedding . QUACK,QUACK ,QUACK! “Then I shall do it”

As she dug , planted, and watered, she sang her favorite tune, “A Day in the Garden”. “Today I’ll garden all day long/ While the birdies sing their pre7y song/and the sun shines the whole day through/And digging in the dirt makes you feel brand new!” “What fun!” exclaimed Li'le Red
Hen. “I wish the others would join me. They don’t know what they are missing! So she sang and gardened and gardened and sang. this wheat?’’ “Not I,” purred the cat. “ I’ll
ruin my new manicure.”

help next Gme you need me.” “Not I,” exclaimed the duck.
“I have to, um , do something. “Then I shall do it.” Li'le Red
Hen sighed. She sang and
hummed and cut her perfect wheat plants. When she was done she went
to the mill to have it made into a li'le sack of flour. Li'le Red Hen happily decided to make a loaf of bread. She said to her friends “Who will help me bake some bread?” “Not I,” said the dog, feeling too
lazy to even think of reason. “Not I,” replied the pig. “But
tell me when it’s ready, okay?
“Not I,” sassed the cat. “Baking is too messy!” The duck was too absorbed in
his singing pracGce to say anything but “Baking is below me.”
“Then I will” sighed Li'le Red Hen. And she did. Soon all the smells of the
lovely bread found her friends noses and they all came running
