Discovery: The Charming Amalfi Coast.Journey along the Amalfi Coast to pretty Positano, a celebrated seaside resort that has inspired many artists and writers over theyears. Writer John Steinbeck, once a resident,described Positano as, “A dream place thatisn’t quite real when you are there and becomesbeckoningly real after you have gone.” Continuealong the coastline during a cruise to Amalfitown. While sailing, notice the colorful villagesand villas clinging to the cliffs – a true sight to behold! including a superb display of mosaics. Finish off your adventure in Naples while savoring a local specialty for lunch. Pizza wasborn in Naples, and Neapolitan pizza is evenrecognized by UNESCO. ELECTIVE | The Isle of Capri. Travel by hydrofoil to the enchanting Isle of Capri, a celebrated resort. Sail along the Capri coast,passing hidden swimming coves, caves andgrottos. Walk along Capri’s scenic lanes andvisit the Augustus Gardens, incredible terracedgardens with bougainvillea vines, marbledstatues and lily ponds.

Herculaneum and PompeiiDiscovery: Unearthing Herculaneumand Pompeii. Explore ancient Herculaneumand Pompeii, which were both destroyedwhen Mount Vesuvius erupted in A.D. 79. The small seaside town of Herculaneum was preserved by mudflows while Pompeii, the

larger of the two cities, was covered by ash.The resulting preservation of these two citiesis unlike anything else in the world. Marvel at the grid-like streets, bordered with bars,shops and public baths, and see everythingfrom mosaics to furniture to frescoes in theForum. You will encounter a history lesson like no other today!

Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant in Pompeii.
