With Amanote, our goal is to offer a multifunctional note-taking application for lectures and presentations. Amanote is made for people listening to a presentation. It aims to improve the note-taking method of both students and professionals, providing them innovative and useful tools.

Note-taking : A real problem for students

According to Microsoft, more than 30 million PowerPoint files are created daily for educational and business presentations. While the use of slides is expanding, there is no real note-taking software that allows to link slides and notes. The lack of effective tools is a real problem for students.

It is assumed that 75% of college students own a laptop and use it regularly. However, a majority of students continues to privilege handwritten notes over digital ones, despite all the benefits that technology has brought to the student world. However bold it may be, but it is indeed true that all the note-taking applications currently available in the market do not fulfill the students’ needs. Such applications leave students with stacked pages of notes and make them spend hours rewriting and reworking on them.

Amanote has been especially designed to offer a solution that is adapted to the students’ needs. It aims to increase their productivity and efficiency during lectures and presentations. Amanote allows students to make clearer and more structured notes and to link them to their course materials. The user interface has been designed to be as simple and as helpful as possible. The various functionalities are designed to be extensive and easily accessible to make the lives of students easier. The application

Amanote's text editor includes all the functionalities that are needed to structure and organize the text (formatting, enumerations, titles and subtitles, mathematical formulas, etc.). The interface has been designed to be extremely user-friendly in order to boost students’ productivity and to make it easy for them to structure their text.

Once the software is installed, the user is asked a few questions regarding his/her field of studies. It enables the software to adopt the different functionalities that will optimize the user’s experience.

When the student is done taking notes, he/she can save the result of his/her work on his/her device and on the cloud. The user can rework them later, or export them into a PDF file for printing.

With Amanote, a student can easily pay close attention to his/her course while taking clear and structured notes in parallel. If the student moves to the next slide, a new blank page appears to allow students to take notes. There is no more confusion and there is no need to spend a time printing and assembling hundreds of pages. One page of notes for one slide—the basis is simple, yet really powerful as it gathers in one simple interface all the materials that the student needs.

The features offered by Amanote have been conceived to make note-taking easier for students during presentations. Students can add a wide range of data, including diagrams, drawings, or charts. They also can write mathematical formulas with special symbols, highlight directly in the slides or on the syllabus, take notes on a specific area of the slide.

The basic version of the application is free and is downloadable from Amanote's website. It contains all the features that are listed above. However, a Premium ($19/year) account can be purchased to unlock more features:

Innovative features

Focus mode: As a student, it can be hard to stay focused throughout a long course, especially when you have, in front of you, a computer offering countless distractions. Once the student enables the focus mode, he/she cannot open other applications (such as Facebook) for a specified period, to stay focused on the lecture.

A system of sharing notes: The application intends to enhance the social aspect of the collaboration between students, offering a system of sharing notes. This system enables the students to obtain the most comprehensive and relevant notes by sharing one's work with other students.

Summary mode: Opening this tab allows the student to visualize all his/her notes in a single view, sorted by different selectable options and allows him/her to search for specific information quickly.

Statistics about the slides: An analysis system provides statistics that the user can access to know which slides are the most important. The application keeps a record of the time spent on each slide and the number of notes written to point out the most important parts of the presentation.


We do not intend to take money from the students, which is the reason why we have always preferred to expand ourselves by building partnerships with universities, rather than making profits directly.
