Our flight on EVA Air departs San Francisco at 1:20am. We will be flying non-stop from San Francisco to Taipei and then connecting on to Bangkok.

DAY 3

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 20 – BANGKOK

Welcome to Bangkok! After clearing immigration and customs, our tour guide will meet us and we will transfer to our hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure.

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 21 – BANGKOK

After breakfast at the hotel, our tour will begin with a visit to Wat Trimitr (or Golden Buddha Temple) to marvel at the 5.5-ton Golden Buddha image. Then head to Chinatown for a brief walking tour along Yaowaraj Road. Continuing on, we will visit Wat Chetuporn – the Reclining Buddha Temple. DAY 6

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 23 – KANCHANABURI

Breakfast is at our hotel. Our day begins with a visit to Erawan Falls, contenders for the most beautiful waterfalls in Thailand and a must-see during our stay in Kanchanaburi. Named af-ter the three-headed white elephant in Hindu mythology, it is 7 tiers and spans over 1.5 kilometers. Next, travel to the Hell-fire Pass Memorial, a part of the Death Railway that was cut through the mountain during WWII. We will have lunch at the debarkation station and then we will board the Thailand-Burma Railway to return to Kanchanaburi via one of Thailand’s most scenic and most popular train rides. This evening dinner is in-cluded at a local restaurant. B, L, D

DAY 7

MONDAY, OCTOBER 24 - KANCHANABURI – AYUT-THAYA

After breakfast at our hotel, we will drive from Kanchanaburi to Ayutthaya, the former capital of Thailand that is located about 46 miles north of Bangkok. The mix of cultures in Ayutthaya began in the mid-16th century when ships from Ayutthaya plied the Asian seas trading with neighboring countries. We will visit the Summer Palace (“Bang Pa-In”) of the late King Rama V, the ruins of early splendor that Ayutthaya is famous for all over the world, and the other UNESCO World Heritage sites. Lunch will be at a local restaurant. Dinner is on your own. B, L

DAY 8

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 25 – AYUTTHAYA – SUKHO-THAI

Breakfast is at the hotel, after which we will journey to Sukho-thai, the first capital of the Thai Kingdom. Old Sukhothai is one of Asia’s most important historical sites and under the supervi-sion of UNESCO. We will visit the temples of Wat Sra Sri and Wat Sri Chum before continuing on to Sri Satchanalai, the for-mer sister town of Sukhothai to see the ruins. A stop for lunch will be made en route and then on to the hotel. Dinner is on your own. B, L

After lunch, we will take a cruise along the city’s klongs (canals). Nineteenth-century Bangkok was laced with canals, giving the capital the designation of the “Venice of the East.” Surviving ca-nals as well as the Chao Phraya River (River of Kings) itself, provide memorable vignettes of a traditional waterborne way-of-life that has remained essentially unchanged over the centuries. Our tour includes a visit to the Royal Barge Museum where we will discover eight of the country’s most unique and stunning vessels: the Royal Barges. Our tour will finally take us to Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn). This Chao Phraya riverbank icon is best known for its porcelain en-crusted 250-foot central sparkling pagoda. After a wonderful cruise, we head back across the river to our starting point. Our final visit of the day will be to Wat Benchamaborpit (Marble Temple).

Tonight we take the Loy Nava luxury rice barge journey into Thai culture and the Thai heart. Savor five-star dining, traditional culture and touring aboard the only original antique teakwood rice barge on the river in Bangkok. B, L, D

DAY 5

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 22 – BANGKOK – KANCHANA-BURI

Today we travel overland from Bangkok to Kanchanaburi. On the way we will make a stop at Nakorn Pathom, which is home to the highest chedi (pagoda) in Thailand and largest in Southeast Asia - “Phra Pathom Chedi.” We will also be stopping by the rural and famous floating market of Damnoen Saduak. This market is a nar-row canal flanked with food stalls and souvenir shops. On leaving the market, a stop will be made for lunch in a nearby restaurant. We will then continue our trip to Kanchanaburi. Later in the afternoon, we board a long tail boat for a scenic cruise on the River Kwai. After-ward, we will visit the world famous bridge on the River Kwai, built during WWII by the prisoners of war. We will also visit the solemn war cemetery of Allied Prisoners, the final resting place for an esti-mated 9,000 Allied soldiers. The tour will bring us closer to the past with a visit to the JEATH Museum, where we will see pictures and artifacts of the time. Your evening is at leisure and dinner is on your own. B, L

DAY 12

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 29 – CHIANG MAI

Today, after breakfast, we journey to the Mae Sa Valley, which is home to the largest assembly of domesticated elephants in northern Thailand to pay a visit to the Maesa Elephant Camp. Historically, these animals were used as workers in the transpor-tation and logging industries, but Maesa works to train, breed and conserve the Thai elephant population. The camp houses nearly 80 Asian elephants, characterized by their spotted ears. Following our elephant camp visit, we will stop at a nearby or-chid farm to admire the many beautiful species of one of Thai-land’s national symbols. Our tour will continue to the district of Sankampaeng, where Chiang Mai’s cottage industries flourish. Watch artisans create beautiful crafts as you browse for the per-fect gift or souvenir. See how they weave intricate patterns of silk with their handlooms, carve elegant teakwood ornaments and furniture, and make distinctive Thai ceramics and lacquer ware – using eggshells to create unusual designs. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. Dinner is on your own. B, L

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 30 – CHIANG MAI – BANGKOK – TAIPEI – SAN FRANCISCO

After breakfast we leave for the airport in Chiang Mai for our short flight to Bangkok. Here we will join our flight on EVA Air from Bangkok to Taipei and on to San Francisco. We arrive in San Francisco on October 30 at approximately 7:30pm. Our chartered motor coach will be waiting to take us back to the Santa Cruz Museum of Art and History. B

DAY 9

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 26 – SUKHOTHAI – CHIANG RAI

After breakfast at the hotel, we drive to the northernmost province of Thailand – Chiang Rai. The capital city shares the name of the province and is spread across interesting architecture that combines the influ-ences of both the Thai and Burmese styles. Visit Wat Phra Kaew, a must-see for everyone. It was built in the 12th century during the Lanna Empire. The Emerald Buddha was discovered here and later moved to Bangkok. A replica was made and placed in the same spot where it was found. Lunch will be at a local restaurant and then we head for our hotel. Dinner is included this evening. B, L, D

DAY 10

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 27 – CHIANG RAI

Breakfast is at our hotel. Today we enjoy some of the traditional hill tribes for which northern Thailand is well known. The drive takes us on a narrow road through beautiful landscapes with spectacular views to the villages of the Akha and Yao hill tribes. The Akha people originated from Tibet and are among the poorest of Thailand’s ethnic minorities. The Yao are from China and are still influenced by Chinese traditions. Continue on to the infamous “Golden Triangle,” the meeting point of the boarders of Burma (Myanmar), Laos and Thailand. Take a boat on the giant Mekong River for a different perspective of this exotic locale. Visit the old Opium House before continuing to the provincial town of Chiang Saen, which is located at the scenic boarders of the Mekong River. Finally you arrive at Mae Sai, the northernmost towns of Thailand and Burma. We will have time to explore the many markets and have lunch at a local restaurant. Dinner is on your own. B, L

DAY 11

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 28 – CHIANG RAI – CHIANG MAI

Today we drive to Chiang Mai with a rest stop to view Mae Ka Chan, which is famous for its hot springs. Then we continue the trip through scenic hillsides and jungles to Chiang Mai, the “Rose of the North.” Be-fore checking into the hotel, we will visit Wat Phra Dhat Suthep moun-tain temple. The temple is home to a holy relic of the Lord Buddha and considered by many to be the most sacred Wat in northern Thailand. Then it’s on to Meo Pui village to meet this friendly community known for its unique culture and colorful costumes. Lunch at a local restaurant in included.

This evening we experience a traditional Khantoke Dinner and Show. Enjoy Thai fare served family-style on low tables while you sit cross-legged on floor mats with fellow guests. While savoring typical Thai dishes, performers from across northern Thailand will entertain with songs, dances and music from the region. The finale is a performance by members of hill tribes like Yao, Meo, Karen and Lahu. You’ll notice the differences in their appearance and dress. After dinner, head to Chiang Mai’s Night Bazaar, which is perhaps the city’s most popular must-do attraction. The colorful mix of regular shops and stalls create a unique market buzz. You’ll find everything for sale here, from ersatz designer brands to embroidered hill tribes textiles, lacquer ware, silver jewelry, carvings, silks, ceramics and antiques. B, L, D

CHANGE FEESPacific Harbor Travel reserves the right to charge a $100.00 per person change fee should any component of the tour be voluntarily changed inside of 90 days prior to departure. Voluntary changes are not permitted within 14 days prior to group departure. Once airline tickets have been issued, the tour participant is responsible for any airline imposed amendment fees for voluntary changes. Dependent on the airline, these fees can be $200.00 per person and higher, and tickets may, at times, be fully non-refundable.

In the event that it be-comes necessary or advisable for the comfort or well-being of the passen-gers, or for any reason whatsoever, to alter the itinerary or arrangements, such alterations may be made without penalty to the operators. Additional expenses, if any, shall be borne by the passengers, conversely refund will be made to the passengers if any saving is made. The airlines concerned are not to be held responsible for any act, omission, or event, during the time the passengers are not on board their planes or conveyance. The passage contract in use by the airlines concerned, when issued, shall constitute the sole contract between the airlines and the purchaser of these tours and/or passenger. Price is per person, based on double occupancy including roundtrip airfare from San Francisco. Terms and conditions apply and are available for in-spection at Pacific Harbor Travel. Taxes and fuel surcharges are set by the airlines and local jurisdictions and are subject to change prior to departure.

Transfers between Santa Cruz and the airport (at scheduled times) and to all listed lodging and attractions, airfare to and from listed destinations, listed lodging, designated meals (B, L, D) and listed attractions including guide services are included. Other expenditures are the responsibility of the traveler. Hotels are subject to change, but will be equivalent to those mentioned in the itinerary.

IMPORTANT RESERVATION INFORMATION

TRAVEL PROTECTION PLANAlthough our quotation does not include the cost of a Travel Protection Plan, we strongly recommend clients purchase this protection. If passen-gers would like to purchase the Travel Insured Protection Plan, there will be an additional cost of $194.00 per person payable with the deposit. If you are traveling as a single, the cost will be $242.00

PASSPORTS AND VISASIt is the responsibility of each tour participant to obtain a valid passport. Your passport must be valid for six months after your date of arrival into Thailand. A visa for entry into Thailand is not required if you are holding a U.S. passport. If you are holding a passport issued by a country other than the United States, it is your responsibility to check with the consulate of Thailand for entry requirements.

PAYMENT SCHEDULEAt the time of booking a $500.00 non-refundable deposit plus the Travel Protection Plan (if selected) is required for each participant. A second pay-ment of $1000.00 will be due on July 12, 2016. The final payment is due by August 08, 2016.

CANCELLATION PENALTIESCancellations received prior to July 12, 2016 - $500.00 per person + Travel Protection Plan. Cancellations received July 12, 2016 and later – non-re-fundable. We strongly recommend our Travel Insured Protection Plan.
