1 Pay Equity Checklist Minnesota state law requires all political subdivisions, including counties, to ensure equality of pay for men and women. The Local Government Pay Equity Act (Minnesota Statutes §§ 471.991 - 471.999) serves to eliminate sex-based wage disparities in public employment in the state of Minnesota. Pay equity reporting is required of all Minnesota counties, every three years. This process examines local government pay structures for evidence of gender inequity and works to assist organizations in achieving pay equity. This checklist is provided to assist Minnesota counties with the requirements outlined in Minnesota State Statutes. Determine your County’s pay equity reporting period. Utilize the following link, Pay Equity Jurisdiction Look Up , type in your County’s name or choose “County.” Locate and review your last report’s results. Reports are filed by the last day in January of the listed year, based on data on December 31 of the prior calendar year. Prepare to submit Pay Equity Implementation Report and evaluate your organization’s compliance. Click here to review instructions for completing the Pay Equity Implementation Report. Enter your County’s data and run compliance report; or work with your classification and compensation consultant to prepare the required data. Ensure accuracy of all current data to be submitted; and review current status of your organization’s pay equity compliance. Pay Equity Checklist

Minnesota state law requires all political subdivisions, including counties, to ensure equality of pay for men and women. The Local Government Pay Equity Act (Minnesota Statutes §§ 471.991 - 471.999) serves to eliminate sex-based wage disparities in public employment in the state of Minnesota. Pay equity reporting is required of all Minnesota counties, every three years. ☐ Determine your County’s pay equity reporting period. Utilize the following link, Pay Equity Jurisdiction Look Up, type in your County’s name or

choose “County.” Locate and review your last report’s results. Reports are filed by the last day in January

of the listed year, based on data on December 31 of the prior calendar year.

The Pay Equity Implementation Report must be received by Minnesota Management & Budget (MMB) by January 31.

Pay Equity Implementation Reports must be submitted using the web-based software at https://mn.gov/PayEquity/LogIn.aspx.

The first thing MMB does when receiving your report is compare it to the previous report submitted by your jurisdiction. If there have been significant changes such as job evaluation point changes or a change to a different job evaluation system, a description and explanation of the change should be submitted in an email to [email protected].

☐ Distribute Pay Equity Report to each Exclusive Representative, as outlined in Minn. Statutes §471.995

The report to each exclusive representative must identify the female-dominated classes in the political subdivision for which compensation inequity exists, based on the comparable work value, along with the data not on individuals used to support these

findings. Many counties fulfill this requirement by providing their Pay Equity Report to the

exclusive representative which includes the Compliance, Predicted Pay, and Implementation Reports.

☐ Post Pay Equity Notice. The notice of pay equity compliance must remain posted in a prominent location for at

least 90 days from the date the report was submitted. This notice must also be posted at the local Public Library.

☐ Remove notice of pay equity compliance after 90 days. Mark your calendar to remove the notice 90 days after the report was submitted.
