Jordi Vea iBarbany, former IT Manager Ferrovial: “We bring about sizeable nation-wide savings with this mobile solution. This is one of the few systems that actually understand how the waste industry works. The impact of MOM for Ferrovial is evident. More than 300 vehicles are driving with the tablets and smart phones across Spain, clearly an extensive project for us that appears to be the most profitable solution. An important role has been played by the fact that AMCS has invested a lot in the development of the software and that customers can grow alongside these developments. Ferrovial makes a clear choice for long term security with options for enabling expansions.” The drivers are greatly enthusiastic After an extensive evaluation of various alternatives, drivers and management have unanimously opted for the AMCS solution. The iPad mini is loved the most due to its handy format, the ease with which it can be taken in and out of the vehicle, and its lower cost over the iPad. Of course, some of the drivers get the App on the iPhone. “For Ferrovial, the challenge was to optimise the total process, getting the vehicles freed from paperwork and the manual management of about 80,000 route sheets per year. The result is a significant reduction of paper and the manual input of data. Besides real time visibility of all the activities of the vehicle, all in all, a sum of crucial advantages.” according to Jordi Vea iBarnbany Digital signatures; exit administrative hassle Ferrovial is using the system to let customers digitally sign to obtain a ‘proof of service’. Fussing with signatures on forms is a thing of the past. As soon as a Ferrovial customer digitally signs the order, it is immediately recorded in the AMCS back office software. Once it is received in the back office, the customer receives the signed digital purchase order via e-mail. This eliminates administrative hassles. Furthermore, it is possible to see exactly where the vehicle is and what it is doing. This means quicker responses when fulfilling new orders. Mark Abbas: “A decision to opt for Mobile Workforce will show Ferrovial that they are running ahead in Europe, that they are progressive. Besides, they will successfully meet the economic challenge to make processes more efficient. Ferrovial is a great player in Spain and Europe. They are confident they are not skating on thin ice and they have made the correct choice. Plus, it is once again proven that an iPad works beautifully in the cabin and is reliable. The advance of mobile solutions in the recycling industry does not seem to stop.”
