The Archer Project’s
Fundraising Challenge!
Help us help the homeless help themselves
30/30 This year is
The Archer Project’s 30th anniversary.
We’re asking for 30 businesses / groups
to join us in marking the occasion by taking part in our
30/30 FUNdraising Challenge.
Dear Friends“ I used to bump into a local farmer and realised he always balanced good news with bad. After telling me how well the beans had done, rubbing his hands together with glee, his mood changed as he said the wheat price had fallen so he’d get next to nothing.
Working at the Archer Project feels a bit like that.
We have loads of great stories, people who say we’ve ‘saved their lives’. In 2019 James was Sheffield Star’s Entrepreneur of the Year through his work in our small printing business, Printed By Us. After years of homelessness and substance misuse he has a new, rich in quality, purposeful and rewarding life. We continue to work with around 30 just like James and we have another group on their way to similar, if not so spectacular, success.
But at the same time we are working with people who are struggling, people who continue to be affected by past events that make moving on impossible for the moment. Experience tells us not to give up because James was like this once.
Taking part in the 30:30 Challenge will help us change lives. It’s as simple as that.
Please think about taking part and if you do I hope you have fun raising money — it will bring huge gratitude from the person whose life is turned around. ”Best wishes, Tim Renshaw CEO Cathedral Archer Project.
So, what is 30 / 30 all about?
Our idea.Everyone that signs up will have 30 weeks to grow £30 into as much fundraising as possible. It would be awesome if everyone came together to help us raise an amazing £30,000 in our 30th year.
How it will work. Each participating group will be given ‘£30*’ and it is then open to each group to use whatever methods they wish ( all legal of course ) to work in collaboration with, or in ‘healthy competition’ to beat your fellow fundraisers to raise the most cash and show everyone what they are made of!
* The £30 you receive at the launch event will be a pretend £30.
This year is our 30th anniversary. We would love 30 businesses / groups to get on board and get involved in marking the occasion with us*. * Did we mention Fun?.
About Us.
The project works with people from ‘sleeping bag to employment, enjoyable and fulfilling lives’. This includes crisis and medical support, move on opportunities through activities, one to one case working, development opportun- ities through volunteer schemes, and employment opportunities via our Just Works Programme.
70 — 90 The number of people Cathedral Archer Project supports every day working in partnership with organisations to support those who use the centre.
£850,000 Approximate per annum cost of running the project
1200 + The number of individuals our staff work with over a year.
In other ( people’s ) words...
“Now I can do stuff ordinary people do. I can go to the cinema or lock the door and enjoy being safe in my place. I can help my kids out and I see them nearly all the time”
— Colleen, previously supported by us now works in our Just Works program
“ But despite their self-doubt and disbelief we do believe in them, and it is this belief which can trigger a determination to want to change”
— Carron, a past volunteer
Kerry came to us every day. She said she ‘worked as hard in her recovery as she did her drinking and partying’. She says she immediately found her niche with us.
“If I could bottle how I feel and give it to others I would”.
— Kerry, previously supported by us and now a University Student
The Cathedral Archer Project is a day centre for homeless adults. It is somewhere safe, warm and welcoming for them to come to take steps to change their lives.
Why Take Part?

Serious problems don’t always need serious solutions.

Whats going to work?
T H A N KY O U !
Shopping List.
£2,000.00 buys 2 months’ worth of food for our kitchen. We use donated food but have to buy fresh veg, dairy, bread and meat each week.
£5,000 — is what our lounge costs us each year (rent, heating and light). It is the heart of the project where conversations happen that kick-start journeys away from homelessness. And on a cold, wet winter’s day it is shelter with tea and coffee; somewhere to sit away from life on the street.
£10,000 pays for essential health and well -being support that helps 8 people into employment. As well as build- ing good life patterns it helps people to deal with the unforeseen (which has included loved ones being ill and dying, unexpected bills, noisy neighbours, relationship problems and illness).
Every little counts...
£20 could buy 2 cosy sleeping bags
£50 helps us to maintain a fully kitted medical room for a week
£100 buys breakfast for 40 people
We are ambitious — we have to be. We need you to raise as much money as you can because, no matter how frugal we try to be, there’s a cost attached to living and to helping people to live it for themselves.

“ At The Archer Project we help homeless and vulnerable adults to lead fulfilling and enjoyable lives. We believe that every person who comes through our doors is an individual with talents, the ability to live a healthy, sustainable life, and who, in time and with support, will have aspirations they want to achieve. It is our experience, supported by research, that through building positive relationships, we can help people change their lives for the better. ”
Please help us to help homeless people help themselves.
