God & Guns by lynyard skinner- “Keep us strong that’s what this country, lord. Was founded on Well we might as well give up and run, If we let 'm take our God and guns. Yea we might as well give up and run” means that they are protesting for the right to bear arms for the people.

Privacy by Michel Jackson- first amendment's right to freedom of press.

- he felt “attacked” (Oprah).

- lyrics state “you’ve got the people confused, you tell the stories you choose, you

try to get me to lose the man I really am”.

- Many people agree that the press was absolutely wrong in the way they treated

Michael Jackson, however, the press have every right to do and say what they

want because of the first amendment.

Dear Mr. Man by Prince - The 14th amendment, which gives equality to all citizens in the

United States.

- section 1 - the 14th amendment says no state shall deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law.”

- equality in voting “listen, Ain't no sense in voting, same song with a different name might not be in the back of the bus but it sure feel just the same.”

Ohio by neil young - 1970 Kent State shootings

- War several students and anti-war activists gathered in Kent Ohio at Kent State University to protest the war.

- National Guard members were sent to control the crowd attempting to get the rowdy protestors to disperse the guardsmen began to fire upon the crowd killing 4 and injuring 9.

- First amendment violated the right to an assembly by forcing the protestors to break up a protest that voiced their opinions and freedom of speech.

Keep Ya Head Up by Tupac- inspired by the murder of Latasha Harlins (one of the sparks

of the L.A. Riots) as well as women’s suffrage

- a 15 year old girl who was thought to steal a beverage from a convenience store and was shot

- latasha’s murder was a violation of her 8th, 14th, and 15th amendment rights.

- violates punishment must fit the crime and women's rights

April 29th 1992 (Miami) by Sublime- 1992 L.A Riots and the acquittal of the four police officers involved

in the Rodney King police brutality scandal

- Rodney King’s 14th, 15th, and 8th amendment rights were violated

- profusely beaten by police for only being intoxicated while driving. When he was beaten they violated the equal protection clause, cruel or unusual punishment, and punishment without a trial.

Pride by U2- the civil rights amendments 13,14, 15 because Ronald Reagan

was a civil rights activist and tried to help establish these amendments.

- based on Ronald Reagan's pride in America's military power and being influnanced by Malcolm x and martin Luther king jr.

- these caused him to ponder the different sides of the civil rights campaigns, the violent and the non-violent.

Protest song by anti -flag - The protest song relates to the first amendment the

right to assembly.

- In the lyrics it states “protest, against, injustice, state terror on the streets of the world” which means that we as people can protest against the government if no harm comes of it.

Killing in the name by rage against the machine - Los Angeles riots influenced by the Rodney King police brutality scandal.

- Rodney King scandal was an incident when an African American male was arrested for robbery, when in reality he was driving over the influence and evaded police, and was beaten profusely and tasered by police officers

- violation of Rodney King’s 14th and 15th amendment rights.

- no man be denied because of race, suffrage can’t be denied rights or have their rights violated because of their race and to face cruel and unusual punishment

War by bob Marley - “that until the basic human rights are equally guaranteed to

all...” Many people love this song. It’s considered a classic to musical philosophical.

- War talks about the 14th amendment which gives equality to all citizens.

- based on a speech that a man by the name of Haile Selassie gave to the United Nations General Assembly

Male feminist by Mc lars - He very eloquently speaks to women's suffrage and gender equality when

it comes voting, corporate America.

- 1st amendment stating “I'm not trying to judge anyone’s religious backgrounds.” He then goes to say “up in the voting booth on your 18th birthday,” referring to the 19th amendment which gave women the right to vote.

- “y'all be up on Wall Street, y'all be up in Congress” Lars made this song to commend the woman in his life who inspire him
