In 2001, PM asked its consulting editors to each select 25 DPMs whom they thought were the most influential. What emerged was a virtual Who’s Who of po-

diatry. This diverse group ranges from well-known legends to up-and-coming superstars. They represent a cross-sec-tion of the country and some of the brightest lights in the profession. We decided to repeat this process every five years. This time, we also asked the readers of PM News, our Internet newsletter, to nominate addi-tional podiatrists who might have been overlooked in the difficult selection process. We have not listed some leg-endary podiatrists because they are no longer active in the profession. Their legacies, however, will live on eternally in the PM Podiatry Hall of Fame. Because of space considerations, we’ve listed these deserving DPMs al-

phabetically from A-K. Part 2 (letters L-Z) will appear in the June issue. We’ve listed a short curriculum vitae for each honoree. This is a conden-sation of current and past positions, publications, and notable achieve-ments and is based on information submitted by each podiatrist. We commend those who were selected. Their hard work and devotion have illuminated this profession and they serve as role models for all of us. Abbreviations are used for com-monly-known colleges of podiatric medicine and well known organiza-tions. For example, APMA=Amer-ican Podiatric Medical Association.
