“THERE WERE NEVERSUCH DEVOTED
SISTERS...”Remember this song made
famous by the sisters in movieWhite Christmas? And we allremember the Andrews sisters andLennon sisters. Well, there are threesisters that may not be famous, butwe think are pretty special.
Louise moved in first, followed byMargaret, then just recently, Trudy. They are the granddaughters ofChemist Anton Wegener, whohelped develop recipes like OrangeSoda Pop, Rock and Rye, Grape, and Ginger Ale to name a few. Thefamily resided in Detroit, where theirfather Frank worked at the bottlingplant at the corner of Gratiot andRiopelle. Margaret remembers, as ayoungster, being fascinated whilewatching the soda bottles beingfilled at the bottling plant.
These wonderful ladies lovereminiscing about growing up in
Detroit and precious familymemories. Pretty cool that we havethese three sisters here at ourAmerican House!
ANTON AND GERTRUDEWEGENER ARE SEATED HERE WITHTHEIR CHILDREN. FRANK, FARRIGHT, IS THE FATHER OF OURFAMOUS SISTERS.
