Volume 16 Number 4 July- Aug. 2007 http://clubs.hemmings.com/northcoastamc AMX-Clamation!!! As expected we had a great time at Kenosha 2007, and the pink AMX was also a big hit at the Mopar Nationals in Columbus. I really didn’t know if we’d make it to either event but with luck on our side we struck out for Wisconsin with less than 20 miles on the car, the Kenosha trip was basically a 1,000 mile test drive! Now that things have settled down a bit it’s time to look around and address the things which I’ve ne- glected for the past two years while the car was under construction. These include my family (guilty), house and yard, and even North Coast AMC. After much consideration I have decided that after 8 years as president of NCAMC it’s time to pass the torch to someone else. I actually considered this after 4 years but there didn’t seem to be much interest then, the Fall Colors Tour was still happening and everyone seemed to be OK with how things were running. How- ever for the past couple of years I have been too busy to plan the tour, or much of anything else club related. Although I still haven’t heard any complaints (likely because our great newsletter has held the club together) I certainly realize that someone else with more time and energy could probably take the club to the next level. So, in the interest of democracy, I am seeking my replacement as NCAMC president and treasurer for the next term of 4 years. The job isn’t too difficult, it’s mainly keeping track of the membership roster and club finances. I have submitted the annual financial report and contributed at least one article for each issue of the newsletter. There’s also some general decision making as well as coordinating with the AMO chapter rep in order to maintain our charter. Really that’s about it! The ideal candidate will have been a NCAMC member in good standing for the past 4 years. If you have the time, ambition, and would really like to see the club prosper please contact me directly, my infor- mation is on page 2 of the newsletter. Depending on the level of interest we may have an election or I may just appoint a replacement. Either way I’d like the new president to take over effective January 1, 2008. I have enjoyed leading North Coast AMC into the 21st century after a solid start by our founder, Bob Browske. I plan to continue my involvement with the club and really look forward to a positive change in leadership. If you’re interested in the job please con- tact me ASAP! Denver 2007

Visitors were greeted in the lobby by this dapper gentleman seated in his early Rambler.

A custom-made SC/Rambler sofa was one of the raffle prizes.

AMCers flocked to Rosie’s for good food and a good cruise-in spot.

Participants of the Racing Class were among over 200 AMCs in attendance.

Despite the rain, AMCs (including Bob Hodson’s SC/Rambler) took

over The Spot.

Thankfully, sunny weather prevailed on Saturday. Approximately 350 cars

showed including some Gremlins.

Rebels at The Spot

The parade line-up: About 125 cars were in the parade.

More AMCs at The Spot: I’m telling you, we pretty much took over!

Check out the color shifting paint on that suped up Met.

AMCs, Nashes and Ramblers of all shapes and colors attended the Kenosha Homecoming.

Rambler Ranch Elizabeth, CO

Independence Home Days 2007

Out of the 600+ cars, 450 some are AMCs.

“The Field of Dreams” includes parts donors and cars waiting restoration.

The newest building at the Rambler Ranch houses many of the 600+ cars. The Pacer on the right once belonged to Scott, our club president.

In the other building were the older Nashes, Hudsons and Ramblers. The vast memorabilia was just amazing!

Here’s another one of Scott’s cars that he sold Terry Gale, the owner of the Rambler Ranch.

This is too cool! I’ve never seen a factory race Pacer in person like this.

Classified CornerDale Veverka

Waiting for the mailman can be one of the pleasures of a person on vacation or a retiree but this teacher enjoys the arrivals of Hemmings Mus-cle Machines or Cars & Parts because the thrill of the hunt begins. Scan the cover for a feature picture or maybe one of those special inserts or dramatic feature titles that start the AMC blood to boiling. Nothing. But, let’s look at the Table of Contents, maybe just some auction news will feature an AMC sale. WOW! An AMC restoration article and a great foreground picture of a ’70 AMX. The August 2007 edition of HMM is well worth the $4.99 news stand price to anyone consid-ering a 1970 AMX restoration. A comprehensive set of over two dozen pictures grace the six page article written by George Mattar. The article makes a disclosure that is not news to any AMC enthusiast (finding NOS parts for an AMC is almost impos-sible). The car pictured was one purchased by Jim

Webb of Webb’s Classics Auto Parts in Huntington, Indiana 20 years ago. Webb is in the enviable position of having set aside unbe-lievable amounts of NOS parts. The extensive list is enough to require a drool bib. From gas tank to seat backs, rim-blow horn kit to wood grain dash overlays the list goes on and on. Many of the pictures provide useful views of the resto-work. The car was placed on a lift to receive its engine from below to protect the new paint. Rear quarters were attached with high-tech glue rather than the usual welding. Hope it works as adver-tised. Beautiful job Jim and if you happen to have any spare NOS parts to donate my address is on page two. Left: Webb puts on the parts in this HMM picture

August 2007 Cars & Parts magazine reports on the Char-lotte Autofair auction. One car of particular interest was the sale of 1958 Rambler Cross Country wagon with a match-ing teardrop camper that fetched $21,320. In the Taillights fea-tured Jeep prototypes. The Jeep marquee has a rather unique parentage situation. Jeep has counted Willys, Kaiser, Ameri-can Motors and Chrysler as parents of the “Jeep” name. If Chrysler is sold it may pass

along the Jeep name, too.

Dan Koch signed off in the last newsletter as Member Profile editor because he has run out of mem-ber profiles. I for one will really miss his feature and would remind anyone in the club who hasn’t passed along a member profile to take a few minutes to do so as soon as possible. Dan does a great job in making whatever you pass along to him fantastic. In the same vein, we have had no new classifieds for 4 months. We try to run each ad in two issues, we changed the deadline for ads and we still have no new ads. Should we eliminate the Classified section, too?
