    Course Description

This course is designed to give the participants a thor-ough understanding of Process Piping Code, ASME B 31.3. and its practical use as illustrated with numerous case studies. Fitness-For-Service (FFS) API 579 assess-ments are quantitative engineering evaluations that are performed to demonstrate the structural integrity of an in-service piping that may contain a flaw or damage. The guide-lines provided in this methodology can be used to make run-repair-replace decisions to help ensure that piping containing flaws can continue to operate safely.

The course offers detailed insight of ASME B 31.3 code pertaining to design, manufacture and inspection of the Piping systems typically used in Petroleum Industries, Re-fineries, Petrochemical plants etc. It presents a thorough understanding of how API 579 methods can be applied for assessing the present structural integrity of the piping component, and deciding its fitness for continued service as well as the projected remaining life. It also suggests remedial measures for mitigation of damage and thus ex-tend the life of the equipment .This course covers Level I assessments for the damage mechanisms encountered in the Piping Systems
