About the American Society for Mohs SurgeryThe ASMS is a professional medical education society with over 1150 physician and Mohs technician members, primarily Board-certified dermatologists with extensive training and experience in dermatologic surgery and the Mohs surgical technique. Due to the high incidence of skin cancer worldwide and the efficacy of Mohs surgery in the treatment of basal cell and squamous cell carcinomas, the ASMS advocates high quality Mohs training for all surgically-oriented dermatologists. We also acknowledge and welcome Society participation by other international specialists who routinely utilize the Mohs technique in their respective countries.
We support our members through strong Mohs advocacy efforts, practice issues assistance, and patient education and referral resources. Our Peer Review program provides important quality assurance feedback on an annual basis. Our Clinical Observational Preceptorship program offers exceptional one-on-one training opportunities by pairing new Mohs surgeons with highly-experienced surgical mentors. Our quarterly member newsletter, The Beveled Edge, informs Mohs surgeons of vital policy issues, announces new Society programs and services, and includes educational highlights from our annual courses.
The ASMS’s educational activities now total four annually. Spring meetings include The Closure Course and Annual Meeting – Dermatologic Surgery: Focus on Skin Cancer. Fall meetings include Basal Cell and Squamous Cell Cancer Pathology for Mohs Surgeons and Fundamentals of Mohs Surgery. New and expanded topics are regularly introduced to keep pace with members’ changing technological and medical educational needs.

Program OverviewThe Memorial Day weekend schedule will allow attendees to participate in an enriching CME program within minutes of Orlando’s excep-tional family entertainment, fine dining options, world-class shopping, and outdoor recreational venues. The Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress offers a spectacular full service resort experience.
Dermatologic surgery and the Mohs procedure have always been the cornerstones of ASMS educational activities. This year’s Focus on Skin Cancer will highlight the latest advances in diagnosis and treatment of skin cancer, as well as important management topics to assist physicians in navigating changing medical practice dynamics. The program incorporates current research findings and new surgical and reconstructive perspectives, along with interactive panel discussions by leading experts on repair approaches, melanoma treatment, and special tumors. Elective micro-scope lab sessions present challenging Mohs and dermatopathologist-provided “unknown” cases, while small-group pathology discussions reinforce valuable key concepts.
Topic Overviewn AJCC Staging Criteria: Recent Changesn Atypicality in Melanocytic Lesionsn Controversies in Skin Cancer Treatment: Interactive Paneln DFSP: Mohs and Other Considerationsn MACRA Updaten Melanoma: Advances in Medical Treatmentn Melanoma Markers: Are We There Yet?n Melanoma Case Studies: Panel Reviewn Non-Melanoma Tumors: Challenges and Managementn Wound Healing Advances
Educational Objectivesn Analyze skin cancer diagnosis based upon the most current visual and histologic diagnostic criteria. n Select skin cancer treatment options guided by the latest evidence based data.
n Integrate new and evolving skin cancer prevention techniques into patient care. n Employ current medical and surgical techniques in the treatment of skin cancer and pre-cancerous lesions.n Apply recent political and regulatory updates affecting dermatologists and Mohs surgeons. n Apply varying surgical techniques in skin cancer treatment using Mohs micrographic surgery.n Select new and refined approaches to post- excision reconstruction.

23 rd Annual Meeting

AMERICAN SOCIETY FOR MOHS SURGERY
Dermatologic Surgery: Focus on Skin Cancer
MAY 24-27, 2018
Directors:Terrence A. Cronin, Jr., M.D. Alexander Miller, M.D. James A. Schiro, M.D.Edward H. Yob, D.O.
Hyatt Regency Grand CypressOrlando, Florida

The program incorporates current research findings and new surgical and reconstructive perspectives, along with interactive panel discussions by leading experts on repair approaches, melanoma treatment, and special tumors. Elective micro-scope lab sessions present challenging Mohs and dermatopathologist-provided “unknown” cases, while small-group pathology discussions reinforce valuable key concepts.
