Company driven progress

Hellenic Petroleum supports teachers from primary education with their professional development in particle physics and related areas. This was done in a partnerships with the Nuclear Research CERN, offering various professional development programmes for teachers to keep up-to-date with the latest developments in particle physics and related areas, and experience a dynamic, international research environment. IBM provides resources for Teachers including the TeachersTryScience website, and are planning a new programme Teacher Advisor with Watson that uses cognitive technology to support teachers with classroom strategies, initially for maths in primary school. Our focus on Teacher Professional Development includes courses to help teachers in Spain and the UK deliver the new national curriculum on computer science at primary level. Also in the UK we published Making Education Your Business with the CBI and the Royal Society, a guide to creating partnerships between business and schools and colleges to support STEM teaching. Amgen Teach supports teachers in a teacher community. Here, teachers get access to: (i) Distance Learning Activities for teachers to become engaged in as extra activities to increase their knowledge of Enquiry Based Learning, (ii) Resources for use in the classroom or for lifelong learning activities, and (iii) a forum to share experiences with other teachers
