Arrive at AMIT Eliraz Yeshiva, Petach TikvahPrivate address by Miriam Peretz, mother of Eliraz, z”l, and recipient of the 2018 Israel Prize for Lifetime Achievement.Mrs. Peretz’s book will be given to all participants prior to the mission.

Visit the studio of Beverly Barkat, wife of former Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat. Her critically acclaimed exhibitions have been shown in galleries and art fairs across the globe.

There’s no better time to walk in the ultra-Orthodox city of Bnei Brak than on Friday. The city turns into a mega bazaar, with delicate- smoked fish, a challah bakery that fills your five senses, and ends with a taste of a bowl of chulent (a local stew).

DAY 3 Shabbat in Jerusalem, May 16

Shabbat will be filled with engaging lectures, uplifting song and prayer, and infused with AMIT content and inspiration. We will have scholars-in-residence and musical accompaniment to make it a meaningful and unforgettable experience.

Shabbat optional activities:• Davening at shul, Kotel or local synagogue of choice

9 a.m. Morning Panel “Torat Chaim”This panel will feature AMIT students and alumni who compete and excel in their fields internationally, and have

kept their Jewish commitment and values strong. In the Reshet, we call this “Torat Chaim,” contributing to the world while embracing Torah and Jewish values. Hear how these amazing AMIT students champion Jewish values as they have become champions in their sport.

Panel to include: Nili Block, AMIT Bellows Ulpanat Noga High School, Beit Shemesh alumni. International Muay Tai Boxing champion

Yaakov Patna, AMIT Hammer High School for Boys Rehovot student. International Wrestling champion

AMIT Mr. and Mrs. Lester Sutker Arts and Sciences High School for Boys Modi’in Robotics Team representative. Winners of the first international league robotics competition

10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Personal Track of Interest Explore Israel’s South and AMIT’s impact on the periphery. Participants will choose a track for the day and break into groups accordingly.

Test your navigational skills in an orienteering competition, the sport of navigation, with AMIT students at the Lahav forest.

Exclusive visit to SodaStream - focus on Negev developmentLunch at AMIT Be’er Sheva.

Visit the Cyber labs BGU, an umbrella organization at Ben Gurion University.OR - Visit the Negev Innovative R&D Center.

Special visit to the Ashalim power station. The station combines 3 kinds of energy: solar thermal, photovoltaic and natural gas.

Once-in-a-lifetime VIP tour of Boris Schatz’s house and studio. Boris is the father of Israeli art, the founder of the Bezalel School of Art, and among the founders of the Israel Museum. *Please note this is usually closed to the public. Visit Be’er Sheva Technological High School. Hands-on session with AMIT students – woodworking/graphic design/landscape.

Lunch at the school in Be’er Sheva.

Bike or drive along “Derech HaPsalim” (The Sculpture Path) located near Kibbutz Hatzerim, considered to be one of the most beautiful in Israel.

Tasting tour at the Hebrew Brewery of Srigim.

Get familiar with the Ethiopian coffee ceremony.

Hands-on cooking experience at the home of Osnat Lankry at Ofakim with AMIT students from the culinary track at AMIT Fred Kahane Technological H.S. Ashkelon.

Visit one of the Negev’s lone farms and learn about desert agriculture of growing herbs and spices. Meet the people who choose to live in the Negev.

Sessions at 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. for our day at AMIT Kennedy High School in Acco.AMIT Kennedy High School in Acco is the recipient of the 2018 prize for educational excellence by the Ministry of Education. We will divide into four groups for activities at the school. (see next page for options list)

Evening Event: Under the Desert SkyA night to remember – an unforgettable authentic experience under the stars

• After sunset, walk from the sand dunes into the desert

Personal Track Options for Acco on Monday, May 18

ACTIVE

Option A Dog Training • Each student will pair with a mission participant in a dog training session.

Option B Water Sports • Together with 7th-8th grade: 2 groups of boys, 1 group of girls.

FOODIE

Nutrition Class and Culinary Experience• Together with students, make healthy candies and treats focused on nutritional value.

• Package these treats with a nutrition facts label created by the students ahead of time.

• The students will present the packaging and labels speaking of importance of studying nutrition relevant to the new Israeli law by the Ministry of Health focusing on transparency in nutrition food labels.

ART

Option A Drama• Participate in a drama workshop together with AMIT students studying theater and drama in the school.

Option B Filmmaking • Join the award-winning AMIT Kennedy videography club in the process of filmmaking. Help them shoot their next movie.

Option A The Rube Goldberg Project Experience • Hands-on experience together with students who built the award-winning Rube Goldberg project in a national competition. Conceptualize and build a Rube Goldberg contraption through teamwork and fun.

Option B The Entrepreneurial Gogya Experience • Help the AMIT students in their partnership with a high-tech company as they help them in the arenas of digital marketing strategy and approach, stats/data and business development.
