INTRODUCTION AND WELCOME As always, we are delighted to have so many students, including 200 visitors from other schools, taking part in our annual Higher Education Conference. We do hope that you all learn a great deal from the seminars in the morning and from the exhibitions in the afternoon and that this will be the first step on your way to a successful Higher Education application later this year. The important thing is that you get the advice and information you want out of the event. To that end, we would encourage you to:

a) Make notes from the seminars you attend – it will be difficult to remember the main points otherwise.

b) Visit a range of stands at the HE Fair. This is your opportunity to find out more

details about courses or universities which interest you, especially if you do not attend the related seminar in the morning.

c) Ask questions towards the end of the seminars and at the HE Fair this afternoon – the

experts will be only too pleased to help. There is no fire practice scheduled on the day of the Conference. Should the fire alarm sound, all present will be directed to fire exits and evacuated to a place of safety by duty fire wardens. We request, therefore, that visitors do not move beyond the rooms and areas of the school in which the Conference is taking place. Lastly, and in some ways most importantly, our sincere thanks go to the universities’ Schools Liaison Teams, and to the large number of visitors from those universities and organisations who have given up their valuable time to come and lead seminars and answer questions at the HE Fair. Without their support, this event would not be possible. Careers &Vocation Department Amanda Toone Clare Tidmarsh Head of Careers Careers Assistant

Vehicles

Please respect at all times the 10mph speed limit.

Fire

Please evacuate the building you are in if the fire alarm sounds. In most areas, a duty Fire Warden will direct you to a place of safety, but there are buildings which will be open in which they will be no duty Fire Warden, in which circumstance please follow the signs which direct you to the nearest fire exit. There are no tests of alarm systems planned during the HEC, so please treat any alarm as a real emergency. If you discover a fire, please activate the alarm at the nearest signposted fire point and leave the building immediately. Do not re-enter until you are informed by a Fire Warden that it is safe to do so.
