ABSTRACT

This study aimed to get the answer of research problems about the moral values found in

The Lorax movie by Chris Renaud and the contribution of The Lorax movie to the audience.

The research design is descriptive qualitative research. The object of this research is The

Lorax movie. As the instrument of this study, the writer used document analysis and observation.

Document analysis is to read the scripts of the movie, and the observation is to find the way to

investigate moral values in The Lorax movie.

The result of this study showed that The Lorax movie by Chris Renaud was full of moral

values. First, we should have a kindness in our heart, because kindness reduces the emotional

distance between two people, so we feel more bonded. Second, being honest improves the

relationship and saves us from having to live to lie. Third, bravery is not being fearless, but

bravery is born out of our desire to confront our fears and emerge victorious over them. Fourth,

responsible people can be trusted or depended upon to do things on his or her own. Fifth,

perseverance will make us do our work thoroughly. Sixth, we must have self-confidence and

believe in our capability. Seventh, love everything we do, because by loving our work it will

make us more enjoy to do it and can give us more spirit to finish it earlier.

Based on the findings, it can be suggested that The Lorax movie could be included into

educational movie, because this movie was full of moral values. Those moral values were

inspiring and motivating for the audiences to do the better things in their daily activities.
