The Creator
Al-Khaliq
According to Ibn Kathir in his book the creature of Allah known as the Binn kind
were dwellers on the earth. On earth they cause chaos, havoc and so on. So Allah
send the Jinn to deal with the Binn. In the battle, the Jinn completely destroyed the
Binn. We understood that the Head of the Jinn is the one called Iblis. Iblis was
very proud of his good did. He was so proud, so happy such that whenever the
Angels in the heaven are addressed, Iblis is addressed as one of them. He used to
be addressed as an angel. When Allah speaks of Malaaika (Iblis is believed to be
included in this category but he was not from among the Angel. He was included
because he was good and obedient then to his Lord).
Amazingly and interestingly Allah (SWT) took dust from the earth and that dust
came from different part of the earth. We know that the soil on earth is different
colours. You have red, slightly lighter colour, you have darker colour, brown etc.
different shapes and colours were taken from different part of the globe. From the
valley, from the mountain, from the sandy region, from the rocky region and so on.
Allah put them all together. This is why in mankind we used the word genes (There
is likely-hood that you pass something in you to your children = Hereditary). So
Adam was created from different type of dust, different colours, different qualities,
so from his progeny there are different colours, and there are people that are easy
to get along with. While there are also people that are very difficult to get along
with. People who are strong and people who are weak. May Allah make us from the
middle part and May Allah make us among the best. Allah created all differently and
this is why we have different shapes and colours, different attitude, different
characteristics and character. We ask Allah (SWT) to grant us the best of all and
ask Allah (SWT) to open the doors for us and our offspring. We ask Allah to have
mercy on us at all times.
Allah has not created man to eat, drink and multiply, in which case hewould be like the animals. Allah has honoured man and favoured himfar above many of those whom He has created, but many peopleinsist on disbelief, so they are ignorant of or deny the true wisdombehind their creation, and all they care about is enjoying thepleasures of this world. The life of such people is like that of animals, and indeed they are even more astray.
Allah says (interpretation of the meaning):
“while those who disbelieve enjoy themselves and eat as cattle eat; and the Fire will be their abode”
[Muhammad 47:12]
From the perspective of humankind, the question “Why
did Allah (SWT) create mankind on earth?” implies “For
what purpose was mankind created on earth?” In the
Quran, this question is answered without any ambiguity.
Humans are first informed by Allah that every human
being is born with an innate consciousness of Allah. In
the Quran, Allah (SWT) said:
“[Remember] when your Lord extracted from
the loins of Adam’s children their descendants
and made them testify [saying]: ‘Am I not your
Lord?’ They said: ‘Yes, we testify to it.’ [This
was] in case you say on the Day of Judgment:
‘We were unaware of this.’ Or you say: ‘It was
our ancestors who worshipped others besides
Allah and we are only their descendants. Will
you then destroy us for what those liars did?’”[Q7:172]
The Prophet (PBUH), explained that when Allah created Adam, He took from him a
covenant at a place called Na,maan on the 9th day of the 12th month. He then
extracted from Adam all of his descendants who would be born until the end of the
world, generation after generation, and spread them out before Him to take a
covenant from them also. He spoke to them, face to face, making them bear witness
that He was their Lord. Consequently, every human being is responsible for belief in
Allah, which is imprinted on each and every soul. It is based on this inborn belief that
Allah defined the purpose of mankind’s creation in Quran:
“I have created the jinn and humankind only for My worship.”
[Q 51:56]
Thus, the essential purpose for which humankind was created is the
worship of Allah. However, the Almighty is not in need of human
worship. He did not create human beings out of a need on His
part. If a single human worshipped Allah, it would not diminish His
glory in any way, and if all of humankind worshipped Him, it would
not increase His glory in any way. Allah is perfect. He alone exists
without any needs. All created beings have needs. Consequently, it
is humankind that needs to worship Allah.
Man is instructed to show gratitude to Allah by glorifying (worshiping) Him. In
the Quran, Allah says:
“Glorify the praises of your Lord...” (Quran 15:98)
In glorifying Allah, man chooses to be in harmony with the rest of creation
which naturally glorifies its Creator.
Allah addresses this phenomenon in many chapters of the Quran. For example, in the Quran, Allah states:
“The seven heavens and the earth and whatever is in them glorify Him and there is nothing which
does not glorify His praise. However, you do not understand their glorification.” (Quran 17:44)
Why do mankind need to worship and glorify Allah by obeying the divinely revealed laws? Becauseobedience to divine law is the key to success in this life and the next. The first human beings, Adam andEve, were created in paradise and later expelled from paradise for disobeying the divine law. The only wayfor human beings to return to paradise is by obedience to the law.
From narration of Rasulullah (SAW) that Adam pray to or speak to Allah in the following way
while he was on earth:
Ya Allah did you not created me with your own hand?
Allah says yes
Ya Allah did you not honour me as the first human
Allah says yes
Ya Allah did you not instruct angels to prostrate to me?
Allah says yes
Ya Allah did this Iblis not prostrate to me when you ask him to do so?
Allah says yes
Ya Allah did you not decree that I was going to this?
Allah say yes
Ya Allah If I pray to you and obey your command. Will you grant me Jannah?
Allah says Yes He will.
