Our MissionTo provide individually tailored quality support and advocacy for persons with disabilities and their families, to promote their self-determination and inclusion in community life.

HistoryThe Arc Nature Coast was established in 1972 by a small group of citizens concerned with the lack of services and activities for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). Today, The Arc Nature Coast serves more than 200 individuals with I/DD and their families each year from 12 staffed locations. Utilizing a unique community support team approach, The Arc is able to provide highly individualized supports to achieve optimum personal outcomes.

Our AffiliationThe Arc Nature Coast has been affiliated with The Arc of the United States for over 40 years. The Arc was founded in 1950, and is the largest national community-based organization advocating for and serving people with I/DD and their families. With more than 140,000 members and more than 700 state and local chapters nationwide, The Arc is on the front lines to ensure that people with I/DD disabilities and their families have the support they need to be members of the community. The Arc, with its rich history in advocacy and services, is comprised of individuals with developmental disabilities, family members, professionals in the field of disability and other concerned citizens. There are 33 local chapters of The Arc throughout Florida. The Arc Nature Coast serves Hernando County and surrounding areas.

Corporate/Charitable StatusThe Arc Nature Coast, Inc. is a private non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization that is locally controlled and governed by a voluntary board of directors from our community.

A copy of the official registration and financial information may be obtained from the Division of Consumer Services by calling toll-free within the State, 1-800-435-7352. Registering does not imply endorsement, approval or recommendation by the State. All contributions are tax-deductible to the IRS limit. Thank you for your support! Achieve with us.

What is The Arc Nature Coast Hurricane Hoopla?In 2011 The Arc Nature Coast opened a state-of-the-art education center and hurricane shelter designed specifically to protect individuals with developmental disabilities and their families in the case of an emergency evacuation. At that time, The Arc decided to host an annual hurricane party each year at the shelter, to raise awareness for the mission of our organization and support for the individuals and families we serve. While permanently dubbed the Hurricane Hoopla, the theme for this signature charity event is unique and different each year.
