An Interdependent World
As national economies become interdependent, goods as well as ideas spread. While many
countries have benefited from globalization, all can be impacted by an economic crisis in one
country. As developing countries become manufacturers and as more vehicles are used
throughout the world, the increasing demand for oil raises the price.

Globalization can benefit consumers by keeping prices low. It also spreads new ideas and
technology. Some people believe that developing countries are being exploited for their cheap
labor and their resources and that the World Bank and IMF require economic policy changes that
are too drastic for many nations to survive.
