DATA PLAYS A VITAL ROLE IN MAKING DECISIONS AND DECISIONS REQUIRE HISTORICAL DATA. SO,MY PURPOSE , HERE , IS HOW WE CAN ARRANGE MILLIONS OF MULTIDIMENSIONAL DATA AT A SINGLE SITE USING OLAP TECHNIQUE.

On-line analytical processing is a technology that uses multidimensional view of aggregate data for quicker access to strategic information.

The OLAP cube consists of numeric facts called measures which are categorized by dimensions. The cube metadata (structure) may be created from a star schema ,snowflake and galaxy of tables in a relational database. Measures are derived from the records in the fact table and dimensions are derived from the dimension tables.

AN OLAP IS AN INFORMATIONAL PROCESSING. IT MANAGES LARGE AMOUNT OF HISTORICAL DATA, PROVIDES FACILITIES FOR SUMMARIZATION AND AGGREGATION ,STORES AND MANAGES INFORMATION IN DIFFERENT DENSITIES. THESE FEATURES MAKE THE DATA EASIER TO USE IN INFORMED DECISION MAKING.
