Ground breaking bed making—why we’ve challenged conventional thinking

Our journey began at the turn of the 21st century when we were looking for a new bed, and as the founders of a bespoke furniture design and manufacturing company based near Bath, we began to wonder why bed design had hardly changed since the 19th century.

We could not understand why it was so difficult to make an informed choice when buying a bed nor could we comprehend how any mattress could support us in the correct sleeping posture – individually and as a couple – given that they deteriorate in support and in cleanliness over their recommended eight year life span.

Having carried out comprehensive research into the design of conventional beds and mattresses; we set out to design and create a better bed that would offer long term, effective body support and better sleep.

The result is the Ammique sleep technology – developed and created with consistent comfort, hygiene, airflow, adaptability and the environment in mind.

The Ammique is a high performance sleep system and a radical alternative to the traditional bed and mattress combo – a revolution not a mere evolution.

Ammique responds to the moving body instantaneously. Suits all weights and shapes with no roll together. Unfaltering long-term support and no body impressions. Thousands of precision-engineered components contour to the natural curves of the body making sleep a completely new experience. The unique use of stainless steel extension springs within the system ensures that it will not deteriorate despite many years of use.

Designed with hygiene as a priority, the structure is easy-clean throughout with all padding removable and washable. Within the structure a void allows excellent air circulation, helping to regulate the body’s temperature throughout the night.

Over the years, mattresses absorb large amounts of bodily fluids, dust mite faeces and skin flakes and there is no way to properly clean them. Unlike a traditional bed with a mattress, the Ammique bed can be fully cleaned.

Developed and created with environmental sustainability in mind, the Ammique technology is a durable, mattress-free body contouring support and sleep system and a radical leap away from throw away mattress technology.

All timber and timber products are FSC certified and are from renewable sources. Waste is carefully managed throughout. All packaging is re-used or recycled. ABS components are made from re-processed stock and all materials are sourced ethically and can be recycled.

The Ammique Bed is manufactured to the highest specification and based on rigorous, independent testing has an estimated functional life of over 250 years. This means it’s the only bed that you will ever need and great news for our planet!

Every Ammique bed is handcrafted to the highest specifications. While we have some standard designs, we are able to work with you to design your perfect bed.

Ammique Limited Editions Constantly innovating and exploring new material finishes, we are bringing eclectic new collections to our sleepscape studio. These include transforming headboards, coordinating accessories and yet again challenging bedroom conventions. Some of our designs will be unusual and brave, but all are guaranteed to provide the wow factor!

Ammique Bespoke Exclusive, in-house special editions which also include fully bespoke designs. We can work with you and your designer to provide any advice necessary and make to your specification. Structurally there are certain parameters to work within and our design team are here to guide you through the process.
